I realize I will probably get a few 'see the DIY liquid forum' replies but this is an honest question.

To me, after a lot of browsing and looking, the most expensive thing to buy is juice. Especially if you chain vape, I'm sure. (To be fair, I'm not quite sure yet what my vape habits will be like, still waiting for mail.)

I've seen it pointed out, and have looked for myself, that you can get massive amounts of PG and VG and liquid nic, and even flavors for reasonable prices...i.e. one large up-front investment, but you will have enough self-made juice for X eons. This would be great, except for I already have a low budget and I've blown away my initial investment dollars on my PV.

I have to wonder, if it's so reasonably priced to make your own, why are tiny 30ml bottles of juice upwards of $25-30? That's a heck of a profit, isn't it? I might go so far as to say gouging. I understand the business cost side of things, but surely there is a way for someone that is:

1) Broke
2) Has little faith in their DIY juice talents and would have to spend over budget to start
3) Will never be able to afford the vendor-bottles for a sustained period

To get a reasonable amount of juice from somewhere, somehow. It worries me greatly. I can already see the looks on my housemates' faces if I wander in with a bunch of liquid nic, too. And I'm not too crazy about handling it, either. (Shaky hands).

Hi LiquidE!
I hear ya, and I can understand your confusion about the prices of the juice after seeing the cost of the raw materials.
I guess the best way I can explain it would be that many juice vendors are being paid for their work and investment in their "recipies". It would be like a chef at a nice restaurant... We can get the same ingredients that the chef uses for about the same price but you or I probably could never cook up a dish like they can.

Some vendors are making great juice for a decent price, others are making "meh" juice and selling it at premium prices but most are giving you a really good juice for a fair price.

I hope that makes sense?!?

Dekang and Hangsen juice are very reputable companies and been making liquid since the beginning,
One can pick-up 100ml for under 10 bucks at fasttech.com. Their choices are fairly basic but nice nontheless.

Buy 10ml sizes 'till you find flavs you really like then order larger quants if you like.

It's mostly the complex designer type liquids that cost a lot more generally.

I mix hangsen banana with some hangsen strawberry for example and design my own flavour.
And keep on budget. But I DIY also and have one vanilla recipe that is my main/home base.

I understand the why, yeah for sure! If I could build model starships professionally, I would :) My whole problem is that between that hobby and buying juice, I'll be food-less in about a week. I'll shop around for sure.

Heh... I hear ya!
Well, you got some solid advice from the others too, there is decent juice out there for not a lot of cash. Finding the flavors that work for you is the expensive part.
Just a FYI... you can get unflavored nicotine base at safe strength in different mixes of PG/VG for pennies compared to vendors juice... and it doesn't taste too bad either!

There is a way.

I buy 120ml bottles of glycerin (VG).
I buy 24mg Halo Tribeca: it cost's me like $20 for 15ml.
I take an empty 120ml bottle, and put about 10ml bottled water, then dump the 15ml of halo Tribeca, then load on the rest with glycerin.
And that's my 100+ ml vapequid for the week.

On occasion (like this past Christmas) I might add a few drops of direct 24mg to my dripper and get a headache; or when using my flashevapor tank, sometimes I spike it with some of the 24mg if I feel like it.

It's the standard choice; you can cook your own food or you can choose to go to a restaurant, .... or... do a bit of both.

We get our eliquids from Mt. Baker Vapor, VaporBomb, The Vapor Room, Killer Juice, Seattle Vapors, ITC Vapes, The Broke Smoker, and Vape Wild. All very reasonably priced with good selections of flavors, good customer service, reasonable shipping prices and good turnaround time.

We are on a tight budget and have found quite a few flavors that we enjoy from each of the above vendors.

I get my juice from Tastypuff. Their bottles are in 2 sizes, 10mL ($4.95) and 30mL ($11.95). An online order has to be at least 20 bucks though, so two of the 30's or 5 of the 10's. They will probably allow only 4 of the 10's, instead of 5, I don't know for sure though.

From my experience with DIY juices even though it has been not too long is that it is definitely cheaper to just do a down payment to get all the supplies. I spent $50 on nicotine and the bottle hasn't even been scratched by my friends and I. The huge 2 liter bottle will make you over 2000 bottles of juice and in the long run is saving you a ton of money. On the cautious side of Nicotine I would not be too worried. Wear gloves and wash/ sterilize the needles if need be, while making sure to accurately measure the Nic in the bottles. I've never had the bottle spill or even get on my hands but even so the small amounts will not be the death of you. When I first purchased the DIY materials I was the same way, very scared and even got the shakes when I went to touch the Nicotine. Now I'm leisurely and it's like brushing my teeth when I make bottles. I barely even think about the process and it takes less than 2 minutes for me to make a delicious bottle of very cheap cost juice. I hope you figure out what you want to do, even reply if need be.

    Sincerely,
    Damian
