I'm Korean and when I first saw the mod I was like whoa...this thing looks hot!

And I saw this picture with the letter in Korean (You read it as ' Chi-Woo-Chun-Wang') and I was so confused...cuz I nevr heard of that and I didn't even know if it makes any sense.

So I googled. And I came up with this;

Korean National Soccer Supporters Club

The logo on the mod is basically came from the official logo that Korean National Soccer Supporter's mascot.

The Logo was made by them. Not Mo Jo.

So what is 'Chi-Woo-Chun-Wang' ??

According to Korean Wiki, It was name of this fearless warrior in ancient Asia (Possibly either China or Korea when there were no border at all...so thats freaking long time ago like B.C)

He was described as "A warrior had helm that has heavy brass on top and was talented at blacksmithing"

I am huge supporter for Korean National Soccer Team (although they $%@k really bad now...)

So those of you who paid $225 retail and $400 on Classified, you are using a product that has no right to use official logo of one of the biggest soccer supporters club in the World.

No wonder Mo Jo doesnt want to sell them in Korea...

i lived in korea for a year, and i dont think they are very concerned with copyright laws based on the amount of blatantly copied goods being displayed on nearly every sidewalk nationwide... from seoul to pusan, its just a fact that there is a giant counterfeiting problem there. counterfeiting is so rampant there that japanese and US customs will search the entire contents of ur bags just to make sure you havent brought any bootlegs out of the country. there is even a bootleg amnesty box at most check in areas at the airport. loved my time there, but shopping for stuff was kind of a hassle. if you had even a slight suspicion that something wasnt legit, chances are it wasnt...

It kinda is.

I was just shocked when I saw the logo and just realized that it is same exact mascot that I have on my shirt lol

From there, to me at least it looked really cheap. I am not saying the mod is aweful. (I haven't had in my hands yet..)

It sure is still one of the good looking mods
(SS & Brass mixed one...not a fan of full brass and SS..I guess you have to have both to mix them up right?)

Koreans complaining about copyright infringement bwha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha

I lived there for 8.5 years, trust me Koreans do not give a flying ef cee yew Kay about copyright infringement or intellectual property law etc.

Daelim motorcycles are based on stolen / corporate espionaged blueprints from Honda and Hyosung from Suzuki.

There are a million other things i could mention, but really, it;s just too funny, the idea of a Korean caring about copyright infringement!

Tell that to the 500 guys outside Yeongsan Station selling dvd's and software and video games, they'll piss themselves laughing, as will the cops drinking soju and eating pajeon with them lol.... :p

I know there are sick amounts of counterfiets and it is taken careless I know.

Thats why video game market is very small and always been unsucssesful.

But again, Koreans got some sick skills when it comes to carving with details.

and also.... Break Dance lol

Hmmmm, I saw a few 'B-boy' dance comps at Jamshil stadium, they're not quite up to international standards yet. I hate to bash 'em as everyone does but they tend to jump in to things too enthusiastically and too fast lol.... Hell I can say that as I know Koreans themselves who would admit to it...

I'll say one thing though only a Korean can make Sundooboo chiggae or dwaedgimori guk bap the right way.

I've been to Chinese or Japanese owned restaurants in London that serve 'korean food' and it is so badly off the mark I felt like asking for my money back.

Same here in Shanghai where I live at the moment, only the ones where the cooks are Chinese kyopo make decent Korean food, the purely Chinese ones are awful.... Only a Korean adjuma knows how to 'put the love'' into the kimchi and dwaenjjang - that's a fact!

...... hill yo...hahaha

actually daelim and hyosung have legitimate corporate partnership deals with honda and suzuki. the models offered in korea are mainly very low grade developments by both companies that were mainly created for the developing countries.

on the flipside, it was awesome going into tower records and buying 1 cd with 4 albums on it. i got the the entire rancid discography on 1 disc for $10...haha and the sheer number of epiphone guitars at 1/3 the price was astounding...got a badass epi les paul for $200. the same model was $1100 stateside.

I feel akward educating you about this subject considering you are Korean yourself but that ironically only reaffirms my conclusion about this subject. I have been extremely curious about the history of the character of Chi You as well as the logo itself so I did some of my own research as well as talked to a South Korean friend of mine.

You are mislead at some part and correct at other, after all can't expect google to give us always the absolut truth of the matter. You are wrong is saying that the Chi's logo is from a soccer team as first and foremost they are not identical, yet at the same time their logo does refer to the warrior / general Chi You. You are also wrong in saying that the Red Devils invented that face logo as they did not. The soccer teams logo is different from Mo Jo's, altough theres a resemblance. The resemblance is there because the face logo is traditional Korean "folklore" (folklore often includes and is considered more or less a cultural myth, not historical truth).

Chi You is primarly known as Chinese folklore and ancient history and theres a debate whether the general in Korea known as Chi Wu Cheon Wang (Heavenly Lord Chi Wu) is the same character. If you search the internet some more you will find that Chi Wu Cheon Wang is argued as once being worshipped as an ancestral god by the people of Goguryeo (the ancient nation that shares ancestry with modern Koreans to which you refered to). Though this claim has been questioned as it is only mentioned in the Hwandan Gogi (book which was claimed to have been compiled in 1911) which is concluded as a false document. This whole subject seems to lead more to the direction of national aspirations and identity than historical facts and the truth itself.

When it comes to the logo itself, as far as I've understood, theres a more modern movement if you will in Korea which is shared by the Red Devils soccer team as well as Mo Jo concluding that the face found on both of their logo's actually reffers to Chinese-Korean general Chi Wu Cheon Wang and not the chinese mythological half man half bull warrior god. Other sources however claim that the many different yet similiar faces as seen on Chi You mod actually represent the (chinese) mythological four gods of the wind, the clouds, the rain and thunder with wide-open eyes, four dagger-like teeth, shaggy dark red hair, horns on his head and predator claws known as Dokkaebi. I don't think it would be going too far in saying that worshipping ghosts, demons or other animate objects is considered barbaric, primitive and somehow inferior behaviour in both cultures and the heart of the debate is not immune from this chain of thought.

I bet all my hard earned that if you buy this book you will find the face logo on Leonardos t-shirt, which is the exact blueprint for Chi You's logo accept cut from the bottom, from this book: (you can browse through pages by clicking the picture on the webpage)

Dokkaebi: Korean Motifs | YouWorkForThem Book Archive

Some pictures from the book. The pictures are taken from old carvings reprinted to black and white pictures.

The identity of the face can be disputed but the facts are that Mo Jo's logo is not copied from Red Devils soccer team and that both of those logo's are actually reprints of old traditional Korean art. Whether you call it dokkaebi or Chi You doesn't change the origins of the logo.

This shiet has just been elevated to higher levels of consciousness and is bigger than chinese counterfeit products :D The irony of chinese cloning a South Korean Chi You with Korean art on it is priceless ;)

a Korean stole the symbols from the soccer team and this is a surprise because?

while cloning mods are ok?

I am not against cloning mods other wise I would not be able to afford to vape
but just trying to understand the logic

? Did you read my post or was you asking from the thread starter? No one stole anything, accept their own folklore art, if you can call it stealing as it is pretty much accepted as collective "ownership".
