I've seen a few vapers here and there around Michigan in bars. Seems to be catching on quite a bit. That's a good and bad thing. Good because more people are quitting smoking = healthy! Bad because there's more people who might do something negatively to make vaping look bad. THings like blowing huge plumes next to the family of 6 sitting at the table next to them (for example).
I vape just about anywhere - even in California - when I go out. I can stealth it quite well when I need to...and unless I'm in a group of like minded vapers (or in a place expressly allowed to vape) I'm usually very low key anyway.
I agree with people taking their business elsewhere...but I don't think that's going to sway owners in any way. You have probably less than 5% of your business that smokes and even less that vape. You have 95% of the people who hate people smoking around then when they are out, and because they aren't educated about vaping...transfer that dislike to vapers. It's a business decision... Make the most paying people happy as you possibly can.

I agree with a lot of what you say, but also disagree a bit...
It doesn't take a lot of former customers telling a business owner their policy (corporate or local) is costing them sales, before it gets their attention. And as we all know, Money does talk, and the more of us that do like the others here and tell them... The sooner those policies might come under review & challenge.
20% of the population smokes cigarettes. And according to some surveys, 70% of them have some level of desire to
quit. Those 20% have families & friends that have a vested interested in those smokers too.
Recent surveys I've seen show a significant majority of people either know nothing of e-cigs / vaping, or are neutral on the subject.
So in trying to find a point to this, I'll offer the idea that we do not necessarily vape in a public arena that is so over-whelmingly
hostile.
Another way to say that I don't believe the ANTZ have won over the masses ... just yet.
So the way I read the situation, the
no-nothing-yets, the
neutrals, plus the 20++% smokers or smoker related present even greater educational opportunities for those of us, yourself included, that share the
respectfully vape in public philosophy / strategy.
And in closing, all I can say is
GO BLUE!
