The main point of a good battery case is to protect the ends from coming into contact with anything metal, such as coins or keys, which could short out the battery and cause venting or thermal runaway. Your hillbilly case does not do that.
Spend a couple of bucks and get a real and safe plastic battery case.
There are times, after reading your posts, that I wonder if you are putting us on or you are looking for ways to blow something up. Best of luck with your new case. batteries are about the only potentially dangerous thing we use and you seem to find new ways to make it more so. I admire the ingenuity!

for standing them up on your desk, I don't see a big issue with this. other than I think it'd drive me insane, because you've got ruffles in your duct tape. I hope this is the prototype, and your next version will be neater.
