just got off the phone with verizon...

my gps does not work. So after almost 40 minutes of troubleshooting...and me threatening to switch to sprint we have figured out it needs replaced. The phones warranty is expired and they offered me the option of upgrading at a 2 year price plan without needing another 2 year plan. Though after being put on hold "magicly" my warranty now ends tomorrow.

So i said i would need to talk it over with my wife(who no longer lives with me ) and get back to them tomorrow. Please make a note on my account of the offer you made me... but of course i will be calling back day after tomorrow and speaking with the retention department because these people are tools.

so yeah thanks for giving me the option of saving almost 400$ on a new phone and not needing a new contract. I'll be calling back day after tomorrow when my warranty ends...

Sounds like you have the option of getting virtually the same deal from just about any vendor who has sufficient signal in your area of operation.

Before you jump on a new plan, go by and take a look at Best buy's phone plans. They offer whatever deal the phone companies are offering on various phones (through the carrier) and sign you up with a Verizon, AT&T, Sprint, T-Mobile wireless plan. They will sell you a warranty that does not exclude water damage, cracked screens, or whatever. If you walk in with a phone that doesn't work, they go get a re-manufactured phone of the same kind that looks brand new and is guaranteed to work, set it up, and hand it to you. No questions asked. Their warranty plan is $10 a month compared to Verizon's $7.

The good part is that they don't argue about coverage. They actually told me that they don't care if you dunk it in the toilet or run over it with your car. As long as the pieces are there and your have maintained the $10 warranty, you get a new one or an upgrade if your old one is discontinued.

While I was there, a lady was getting her AT&T phone replaced free. It had a severely cracked AMOLED screen. They programmed a new phone and she walked out happy, so I have seen what they told me to be the truth.
