hey guys,

long time lurker, finally made an account. even more finally, I have a question...

i have a SubOhm Innovation Big Dripper. Its an auto dripper that you push the drip tip down and juice goes to the coils. its FANTASTIC when it works, but it mostly doesn't- it CONSTANTLY leaks from the hole and floods my coils (and the flooded coils leak out of the air holes. eww.). I understand that the "tank" above the coils is supposed to be a closed system and that it is the air pressure from depressing the drip tip section that forces the juice out, but why would it always leak?
i make my own juice, 80/20, so i don't think viscosity is the issue

I'm no newb to vaping (or physics), so please give any input with no need of dumbing it down.

thanks for everything guys, in advance and in the past.

oh, and, hi : )

is that 80/20 PG/VG or 80/20 VG/PG?

80vg, 20pg

Maybe caused by changes in temperatures?

I THOUGHT of that... because of the air holes, i don't think that it is an expansion/contraction issue causing a vaccum, but it does get warm, and perhaps it affects the viscosity of the juice?

I would LOVE to keep it upside down all the time... it may come down to that : \

thanks for the love guys.

I don't know that device, but air holes generally do not communicate with the tank in a system like that so the tank should be a closed design except for the juice flow hole. There are also usually O-rings involved in sealing the parts. This means that if the air in the tank gets warmer it will cause pressure to build. Also, if an O-ring leaks you will have vacuum loss in the tank which will cause a slow leak. 80% VG is really thick, so juice viscosity is not an issue.

I've got it in test mode right now...

I've slightly stretched the spring to be a little longer, added an o-ring where the drip tip "holder" meets the tank on the inside, and another o-ring where the tank meets the deck. I've cleaned it and filled it with juice and set it on my desk upright. I don't imagine it will leak like that, but it's worth the time to get a "control" in my study.

I plan to use it all day tomorrow and see how it goes.

while cleaning it, i filled it with water (instead of juice) and shook it, and water came out of the drip hole with every shake. granted, i was shaking it hard (just to see) and water is much thinner than juice, but it may just be a sensitive system.

what would be nice is a one way valve at the drip hole, but that's probably impossible without drilling out the drip hole and fashioning a custom made valve.

thanks for the input!

What has Sub Ohm Innovations said about it? Perhaps you got a dud. Im assuming you contacted them before making the post? At least thats what I always do, I just hope someone comes up with a solution before the maker responds. But looks like no help here since I think most of them work fine. Mine has no leaking issues except for a very small amount of condensation that builds up at the base of the plunger at the very top, its very minor though.
