Thanks for clearing that up Sun. I plan on picking up some ice machine cleaner this weekend and cleaning my atomizers with that. Getting more life out of our atomizers is a real breakthru. Phosphoric acid seems to be the best tip so far.
That is also true--IMO--if you get an atomizer and it lasts 5 full days--then with maintence, there should be no reason now to not have it get a nice livespan out of it----that is the goal. Any defects would show after 5 days. From there on out I think now I can hopefully conclude its all in the hands of the user-------Sun
am on month 9 with my atomizer... using it daily for three months now! Testing to see how far I can get her to go... thought I almost lost her a few times... but nursed her back to health and voila... rippin some serious vapor from her still. Oh my god. I just turned my atomizer into a car!
And let's face it... smoking an ecig is somewhat of an art. If you get good hardware and you do figure out all of the in's and out's of that particular piece, you can make them last for a really long time, even with some serious abuse.

What brand atomizer is it and what nursing methods did you use?
Lacey--I have a question---does your Husband make you change your automobile own oil too? LOL --He should be doing the maintence on that atomzer for you on a regular basis. ---!!!!---Sun
some knowledge.. atomizers seem to be good for around 5000 puffs or vapourizing around 25 ml of liquid.. after that they turn into pretty useless items..
Wait... oil gets changed in cars? LOL.
Please. He knows better than to touch my ecig.
thats why you pay a heck of alot more for the janty , not because it's any better than any other atomizer , your just paying for the warranty.I wonder why the Janty Dura Atomizer warranty is 6 months. surely it wouldn't last that long?
I had one become useless right around the 25ML of e-juice spent.
I went through it in 4 weeks.
Well I would have to say that the RN4072 models I bought from puresmoker seem to still be working. Purchased on 2-5-09 and even with issues with the metal mesh bridges flaking on 3 of the 4 they all still work. Now I will add that I refill my carts mainly although I do on occasion drip. While I have mine glued to my mouth, my husband only occasionally puffs on his.
I do the maintenance on them though and not the least bit technical savy. Wonder if the ice machine cleaner would be ok to use on my falling apart ones with the mesh?

its a shame this place is so full of speculative nonsense..
of course they know how long the things last on average.. they simply dont want to say...
the history of this place is strange.. a year ago folks didnt know.. then some acquired reasonable knowledge and passed it...
now all those people with knowledge have gone and this place is full of speculative nonsense and misinformation again..

they are not like light bulbs and simply stop working.. they.. in equivalent terms simply get dimmer and dimmer until they become pretty useless.. the point they get thrown away is up to the user..
except for light occasional use.. e cigs should be treated as semi disposable items and not expected to last long because they will not.. spares should be obtained in advance..
some simple facts which will quickly disappear off the front page and into the archives.. the speculative nonsense will continue.. which is why the people with knowledge have left.. its a waste of time trying to pass it on..

Great for the new users but the old timers have been there , done that , got the t-shirt.
"search" will turn up alot of old and relevent question answering threads.

Well said KinbalooTrog - saying attys get dimmer gradually is true enough but my allusion to the lightbulb was to say that because both are a fine wire we cannot expect them to last forever. Nevertheless, attys DOsometimes stop working suddenly because the deposits as they grow can pull apart to soldered connection. This has been discovered recently by the people here with a genuine interest in the technology and a seeking for improvements.
However the lifetime is greatly influenced by the deposit level. This depends on the juice used which varies widely in the dry deposit level (both on the heater coil and in the wire mesh wicking). Furthermore, generally successful methods of cleaning have been developed to extend their life.
It is also interesting that running attys hotter seems to on average help them last longer, possibly by burning off some of the deposits or by fully phase changing the juice on and in the coil (greater efficiency).
It is a pity you so often choose to offer only your elitist BS instead of contributing helpfully to the discussion. Perhaps you were an early pioneer in the field but now you simply decry anyone else for trying to take the field further, refuse to join in and just sulk. That's a pity but your choice. In fact, there are many knowledgable and talented people here.
Models have changed and new ones come along. Most of us ae actually interested in which models generally have a longer life (as well as good performance).
ps: both the fields of science and technology have frequently benefitted by people looking again at what was once cast in stone. The difference is that I am happy to think aloud and be wrong sometimes; I don't care about being right, I just hope to move things forward.
