Finally go all of my vape-parts in and wanted to post a thank you to all those that offered advice in responses as well as the older tutorial posts here at ECF.


I do have one newbie question before I cannot post new threads in the New Member area, I have noticed with nearly all of my new e-juice that there is a bit of a medicine-y taste. Is this a result of nicotine levels (most are 2.4)?

What mixture of PG/VG are your juices? PG kind of has a medicinal taste to me. Sometimes VG has an off taste as well, but I wouldn't call it medicinal.

To me the higher the nic level the more of a black pepper kinda thing on the back of the throat??? Though taste is very subjective.

The medicine taste is more than likely from the juice vendor. It may need to steep for awhile or it may just taste like that to you. I'd recommend trying a different vendor and in the mean time just suck it up and hope it soon tastes better.

Agreed. Higher nicotine levels never tasted different to me, but they definitely give a stronger throat hit (which I hate).

The larger bottles are the ones I have been vaping mainly and are 100% PG, I believe. I was wondering about the steeping. Is that usually open air or just letting them sit?

It might be the PG or like others have said, it might just be that supplier.

Don't leave the bottles open or in sunlight. Open air and sunlight will break down nicotine. You just put them in a cool dark place for a bit and shake them up once a day or so.

I have had juices from a specific vendor that all its juices tasted like cough syrup. Try a few different vendors.

I hate to hear that. I have been getting a medicine-y cough syrup kinda taste. I really liked the people I did business with, but yeah, probably need to shop around a little more.

Attys and cartos can have a big effect. Also make sure your juice is at a good flavoring percent. I like mine at 15% (DIY)
Also make sure the juice flavoring is water soluable and not oil. Any juices from china or non-american sources should probly be avoided.

If the medicine-y taste that you are getting is from some fruit flavored once, I would say its the fruit flavor, as I have felt cough syrup in a few cherry flavored liquids. I am too newbie to say anything on PG/VG or nic level.

Very good. That is better than I did . I didn't have the good sense to get a second battery. It quit right at my nighttime relax and let all go nicotine fix. Had to do something I hate to do and charge it for just a partial charge. I also did not do as good on my Vap choice. I got Ego T's and only got a cartomizer as an after thought. Good work enjoy. Keep your contacts clean, wash your hands often or get a pink eye when I wiped my eye with my hand which must have had juice on it.
OH good idea on a variety of Juice.

I just looked at the pic of your setup and I know the vendor from the pic. That is the exact vendor I was referring to. Some people love their juice flavors but I found it tasted like cough syrup. I have never had any juices from any vendor that tasted like those did.
