I recommend the DV Twist battery for a combination of quality and low price. I have 2 of these myself, and they work beautifully. DV Twists

Couple it with a Kanger EVOD, MT3s, T3s, Protank II Mini, or a Smoktech Aro clearomizer, which can also be found at DV, and you are set.

I keep a ego 2200mah with a kanger 2 ready at all times for backup

I'd vote for a basic ego battery and a aspire ET-S clearomiser. Less features to confuse than vv so maybe the learning curve would be shorter. Also should be able to include a 5 pack of BVC coils for under $30.
