I am trying to pick a brand, hoping for a little help.
I tried an electronic cigarette at a mall kiosk the other day and both loved and hated it. I love the idea of being able to smoke around my daughter and not worry about second hand smoke, but I hated the burning aluminum foil taste. I can't remember what brand I tried, but it was 130$ and I had seen them online for 20-100$+ I was about to buy blu, because the blu light and charging pack seem like a good idea, but then I saw a thread with a bunch of people saying blu wasn't quality. So I think I've narrowed down what I want but am unsure of the best choice.

1. little or no burning aluminum taste
2. small, same shape as a traditional cigarette
3. cartridges, not e-liquid (just sounds easier)
4. flavors to choose from
5. Under 100$
6. Don't have to suck too hard

Also, I smoke by sucking smoke into my mouth, then inhaling it with air, not directly inhaling from the cigarette. Is there an e-cigarette that can work like this?

Thanks for any ideas or advice.

Rule of thumb: the more it looks like the real thing, the worse it performs. There is limited flavor selection with prefilled carts, they don't taste nearly as good as the liquid you can buy and they cost much more than using liquid.

I can't in good faith recommend any auto switch PV. The closes in appearance to an analog but with a manual switch is the 510. The batteries don't last that long (but much better than the blu) and they are well recommended by many on this site.

You can find them at many different and good suppliers but I will give you just a few that I have delt with that have good prices and service:

e-Smokey Treats - Electronic Cigarette's, The healthy alternative to traditional tobacco cigarette's
www.eastmall.net - Eastmall International Co.,Ltd
RUYAN Brown e-cigar with 25pc Cartridges - RUYAN e-cigar kit - Heaven-gifts.com Ruyandirect.com Best E-smoking Shop

If I may add, depending on where your from JANTY DURA-C - Janty USA or for outside the US JANTY DURA AUTO - JantyShop
Is a great choice, because they have fantastic warranties that are very hard to beat
3 months warranty on batteries, 6 months on other parts (including atomizers)
Depending on use, the batteries last me about 4-5 hours

Just wanted to add that I too thought refilling would be complicated and a hassle, but it's really not and that's really the only way to go in my opinion.. tastes better, lasts longer than pre-filled ones (i'm convinced they don't fill them all the way up) and takes all of 30 seconds for me. There are A LOT more options when you are talking juice vs. carts.. :) good luck.. I have a 901 and I love it

I'm still not buying into this lol. As I've stated before I love my RN4801, and have great success with it. I have a theory that a lot of these PV's are made in the same factories in China so brand isn't as much of an issue with me as price is! I also think pre-filled carts last longer, but they don't have as many flavors, but the good news is that you can buy a PV from one site and carts from another!! The only PV I have that has foil on it is my Vx2 and I don't get any foil taste so far. Your inhaling method is correct, some people might inhale straight into the lungs, but I find it is harsh and makes the atty's really hot! What the blu has is reffered to as PCC and a lot of sites have them. I don't have any experience with them, and would worry about them affecting battery life.

Good Luck!!

If you're looking for lots of vapor and a good quality and consistent throat hit, like a lot of us, the e-cig models that have a manual switch are a good choice.

The importance of the manual switch is that it heats the atomizer portion of the e-cig to a higher temp which gives you warmer vapor, lots of vapor, and a good quality throat hit. Another important feature of the manual switch is that it does not have a short cut off or time out to the drag.

For someone new to e-cigs, I would recommend the 510 e-cig model. It's a manual switch e-cig that is reliable, durable, and does what an e-cig is suppose to do.

510 model e-cigs
USA Suppliers
Joye 510 ( e-Smokey Treats - Electronic Cigarette's, The healthy alternative to traditional tobacco cigarette's )
Yeti ( AltSmoke - Electronic Cigarettes, DSE901, The Yeti & More. )

UK Supplier
Dura-C ( iVapour | Electronic Cigarettes | Janty Stick ? Janty Kissbox ? Janty Dura-C ? Janty Mini Fogger ? Janty E-Liquid & Cartridges )

China Supplier
Eastmall 510 ( 510 Manual Switch Starter Kit - Black - e-Cigs Manual Switch 510 - Eastmall International Co.,Ltd )

You may also want to include a 510 passthrough with your order. The passthrough is identical to a standard 510 rechargeable battery except that the end portion is wired to a standard USB connector. You simply plug the USB connector into a USB port or portable power pack and can vape all day long without having to change or charge batteries.

The e-liquid you buy will also play an important part in satisfying your nicotine cravings and also in providing a good throat hit. The higher you go in nicotine strength, the better the throat hit. 36 mg nicotine (the highest strength right now) does give a nice throat hit but made me sick and gave me headaches. I smoked 2-3 packs of ciggies per day for several years - so just because you smoked a lot doesn't mean that the higher nicotine is right for you.

For the first 2 months of vaping I used 18 mg (high) nicotine strength and was quite happy with that. I am currently now using 12 mg (medium) nicotine strength and still feel satisfied.

For a first purchase of e-liquid, I would recommend you buy the flavor or flavors you think will best suit your needs. You'll find the right strength for you. There are a lot of suppliers that have good liquid so the field is open there. Wherever you place your e-cig order you will also be able to buy e-liquid.

Finding the right e-cig model and the e-liquid flavor and nic strength that suits you is what is going to make you a successful e-smoker.

If you haven't done so already, your next step is to view these helpful videos:

Hope this helps - Good Luck

How long have you been vaping on the 510? Pro's/con's?

I'm trying to decide on the 510 or the Stick. Undecided. Thanks!

I did a lot of research and came up with the Vapor King from Vapor4Life.com and also the Zeus (KR808D-1) from vaporoptions.com. the VK is a bit longer than the Zeus and the battery holds a charge longer (duh, it is longer!) The carts are interchangable and come in any number of flavors. I also have 'branched' out and bought e-liquid from totally wicked, to find the perfect Menthol flavor. So far so good, and about once a week I refill my carts. If an old lady can do it, anyone can...Gave up the analogs and now it's e-cigs all the way.. Good luck on your quest.:D

The 510 was my favorite for a few months. The 510 manual switch gave me more consistent vapor and throat hit. And is great for getting you started with vaping. That's why I recommend it to someone just starting out.

The 510 will giver a tighter, packed draw (similar to the draw you get with a 901 atty, but better IMO), whereas the stick will give a lighter, airier draw. This is because of the difference in the atomizers. The 510 of course has a 510 atty which is smaller, but the stick has a generic 801 atty which is larger.

I personally prefer the tighter, packed drag cuz to me it's more like what you get with ciggies. But there are lots of people who prefer the lighter, airier draw. Just a matter of preference really.

If you want to consider apples to apples though, I would compare volts to volts when making a decision.

Stick (3.6 volts) vs SD (3.6 volts) or GG Nano (3.6 volts). Of these, the GG Nano has the most versatility. It comes with a default 901 thread to connect 901 attys. But you can buy 510 and 801 adapters with the GG Nano so that you can use all these types of attys with it if you want.

Now there is also the GG (6 volts) vs Prodigy (5 volts). With the Prodigy, you can get 801 and 901 versatility to use these types of attys. The GG has the most versatility though in that you can use 901/801/510 attys if you buy those GG adapters. Also with the GG you can choose whether you want 3.6 volts or 6 volts to vape with. With the GG it's simply a matter of switching batteries to get the different volts.

I currently use the GG at 6 volts and the 510 adapter (just love that 510 atty!). Once you vape with 6 volts you know what vaping heaven is. But if I want a break from 6 volts, I can simply change the battery and vape at 3.6 volts. And depending on the type of drag I want, I can switch to 901, 510 or 801 attys.

For further info on the stick, see the Janty supplier forum.
For further info on the Prodigy, see the Puresmoker supplier forum.
For further info on the GG, see the GG supplier forum.

Hope this helps and good luck!

Great avatar, reminds me of my wife in the morning... she agrees . . .

That's me in the morning for at least 20 minutes or more if I so choose. Ahhhh, being self employed and single. Just my dog and I. He looks the same in the am. Hey, gotta give us women a break. You men aren't Romeos when you wake up. Especially if you want a good smooch.:D

Your wife must be beautiful if she can laugh at herself.

You know what I really prefer but I don't think Wonderfulme really would like the bigdog e-cigs thrown into her face just yet;)
I actually held back from the Janty stick, you know because of Janty's infamous trials to perfection and low & behold the stick is off the market for its "fixes" already. lol

Mamu hit every nail on the head! Thanks for leaving me less to say love:D
