So I started working with nickel wire and I can't seem to keep a good looking coil, It always ends up either wobbly or loose or just ugly looking, I noticed there was a coil master type thing that makes a perfect coil everytime but 26 dollars seems a bit steep, does anyone have a clone or a different brand that does the same for Cheaper? If so could you please link?

I notice that the colors have different sizes what color would be standard I have a magma a kayfun and a squape reloaded with wide deck and I always use 28 gauge wire

What I notice with the coilers like the Kuro and such, it makes a good looking coil, but you still have to so squeeze them with pliers or tweezers. With the gizmo you can make a tensioned coil and don't need to squeeze coils anymore.

I just picked up one of the Youde coil jigs. Drilled a hole through the side and tapped it for a set screw: planning on picking up another to put in my "go bag"
I second this one cheap, easy to use, and perfect tension coils every time.
Forgive me guys if I'm wrong, but I thought the nickle wire you use for temp control was supposed to be wound up on a screw for even spacing between the coils and not tight like a micro type coil. Those coil jiggy thingy trinkets are for making tight coils.
Yes, spaced coils typically give better results then squeezed coils for DNA 40 with Ni200 and temp limiting.
I prefer them (spaced coils) for Kanthal too.

i have the 3 sizes of the kuro coiler clones. they are 8 bucks each. You can get other clones like this from fasttech (but they ship way slower), I personally ordered from eciggity because they ship faster and are cheap enough at 8 bucks for me, also keep note that each is just 1 size (2.0, 2.5, or 3.0) (8$ EACH)

also with your nickel wire, if you havent yet, try twisting the nickel wire before wrapping. If you dont have a drill you can just take two pieces of nickel wire, wrap em around tweezers and a screwdriver and just twist them manually. This creates a less 'springy' wire and is easier to wrap.

+1 for the Coil Master. I purchased it a couple of weeks ago and it's really easy to use. The only drawback is the 5 rods and their paired end-caps are a bit difficult to store as they separate from each other very easily. Other than that, I've been really happy with it.
I tried the coilers for Ni200, wrapped tight, then pulled them apart to space. It was more trouble than it was worth.
Was wrapping on a screw. Now I find its just as easy to free hand on a screwdriver.
You don't need a perfect looking coil. They all will work fine.
Use twisted 30 or 28.
If you try Tempered 28, you will never go back to annealed Ni200.

I absolutely can not get the hang of the Coil Master, I can practically wind coils on a mandrel with my eyes closed but the Coli Master has been frustrating with coils
bunching up/winding over themselves. No I don't try to press the two parts together when winding but I'm getting tired of wasting wire.
Don't think I've successfully wound a coil yet and I am a very hands-on tinker-ey kind of person.
If I hold it too loosely the end cap jumps off the wire and anything else results in the coil winding over itself.
I now just use the bit-end as a mandrel and don't bother with the winding end.

I use 20-28gauge and I am succesful in winding the coils each time. although I use a kuro coiler clone, it might not be the exact same as the coil master one, but it shouldnt really be that hard. Even when i press down hard it still winds up a perfect coil. The only slight problem i experience is what you mentioned though, with the wire winding over itself, but that only happens to me when I use single strange 28 gauge (very thin), could be possible that it is because you use higher gauge wires as well?

I am a user of the Artistic wire coiling Gizmo. IMO you won't get a better coil, and it's fast and easy.
