I bought a trident rda and it is the only one i have ever had stop working on me. The center post got loose resulting in a lack of connection=broken, only lasted around 2 weeks. My personal favorites are the IGO L and W. The nimbus clone is also nice and relatively easy to build. The Igo L is a single coil dripper and at the cheapest i've see costs around 9$. If you want a dual coil build the IGO W is great maybe 13-15$. I also own two nimbus clones the V3(i think) is my favorite. Something to look for is phillips head screws. I know the earlier nimbus versions had allen key screws and if you lose that tiny allen wrench you might me SOL. Anyway just my opinion Good luck!!

i have window shopped online and still do not have any success finding a dripper. I do not want to break the bank but also want a decent rebuild-able one. Any suggestions?

You might take a peek at the short thread...http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/fo...uestions-pt2-rebuilds-1st-rda-purchase-2.html where I said…

...And for many of the same reasons that we enjoy anything of value in its composition, engineering, construction, adaptability, versatility, etc.

I recently got a Black Titan as the backbone for two black Immortalizers. It's an electrical powerhouse with high-amp batt's, But the Immortalizer is a delicate creature capable of incredible nuance if textured with the right ribbon build. Yet the set-up is unforgiving. Difficult screws that loosen during use altering resistance, coil geometry and flavor. The airflow control with the rotating sleeve is incredible but the results made haphazard by the preceding along with the careful arrangement of wicking and coil you prepared. Still I strongly recommend it, as did another poster for its incredible uniqueness in draw and taste having more similarity to me of the experience of a fine cigar than anything. It's sterling.

On the other hand, like most, I started with clones and one was the Trident. Now I have an original M16, a beast of a switch, with same of a gold Trident. It is the Ariel, the Bugatti, easy to slip behind the wheel, deft to the touch and flawlessly powerful with the simple introduction of high-octane cotton...

I have a few Tritans, original and clones, and have yet to encounter any quality issues with either. It's a tremendous bang for the buck but you're going to need good building skills with both Immortalizer and Tritan to master control over resistance values. Consequently, an economical way to test the juices with drippers is the Nimbus and an outstanding variant of the form factor to avoid hunting for holes or modding, until you know what you like, I describe here…

An outstanding little under-rated dripper is the Forge. Hard to find an authentic. But the clone is excellent, cheap and a great introduction to dripping. Its enormous advantage is the multitude of air-hole adjustments, comparable to some of the most expensive airflow adjustable designs. This will give you the opportunity to find your preferred optimal of airflow, power and resistance.

The clone with brass 510 and posts here…

Chinex-V6-RDA

It's capable of producing awesome vapor and flavor at about 1.1-1.2Ω, 28 AWG, 10/9, on ~2 mm (5/64"). This and a brass magneto or sentinel (original or clone) is a tremendous production combination coupled with an AW 18490 (keep it fused).

(I'm sorry, the forum seems to want to block this link…try looking for the description at hoosiervapes.)

I also take this up on the http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/clearomizers/486794-protank-microcoil-discussion-30.html thread (a great discussion on building electrically correct precision coils)…

I've mentioned The Forge, a very inexpensive Nimbus-like variant with an expanded rotating cap and incredible airflow control for an avg approx <$15 real stainless dripper. This will give you the experience and options to identify your airflow preferences with excellent control of both air inlet and localization. I'd like to send you to my friend Andy De Luca at Venerable Vaping as his buys have been of really outstanding consistent quality but he's out of stock at the moment. However, he does have the the new IGO-W4 at that price. The best build quality I've found on the Forge/Pheonix/Chinex/V6 though is at hoosiervapes with brass 510 post for example and tighter finish.

So scoot, take a peek, it'll be worth your while.

Good luck. Happy New Year!

:)

great info as always Mac :)

Thanks dedi, appreciate that. I've you've been reading my posts you've seen that I'm trying to put the proper electrical skills in the hands of those most needing it with their struggles. Also to help the rest of us fine tune our builds using straightforward affordable methods.

I hope we haven't lost ya scoop. I was curious to see how you made out.

(Hey all wind those coils right off the spool. You'll be amazed at the results. Search my posts for tension and torsion).

Good luck and Happy New year.

Hey Dedi, I fiddled for a month with Vivi's. I knew what a contact coil was. I built one about 2 weeks in on a drill bit just to see if I could fit it in a vivi head. But then, naahh, there's gotta be a reason…lemme see if I can try the screw windin' thingy. Sure he's still not telling us how he threaded the damn thing, but let's give it a try. Then I couldn't figure out the actual pitch or diameter from the preponderance of screw spec tables that accumulated. Had no idea how to calculate what I ended up with. Still struggling with hot legs and burned grommets. But it's so much better, so good, I convinced myself, when half flooded. Still it was better than I Vivi. I can live with that, certainly, can't I?

You know…I have a very simple definition for stupid — To think or act out of ignorance.

That would be me. You see, I should have known better. That's why I love that grand old quote from Will Rogers…

There are three kinds of men: the one that learns by reading, the few who learn by observation, and the rest who have to pee on the electric fence for themselves. —Will Rogers

Because we're all of us a bit like each from time to time.

I decided people with lives and mental health in the balance couldn't afford to play around with quitting. You see that too was me. LOL Because wicks that tasted like sweaty sneakers was just gonna drive me to drink! So I decided to take the bull by the horns and apply the common sense, experience and education that I had to vaping...and ignore where the herd was goin'. That's what I invite others to do here. To share the experience, not just the achievement, were having together. It takes a bit more work and that's the approach I've taken. From the views on the two threads that have headed down that road it would seem that's pretty popular all of a sudden. And that's very gratifying to each and all of us who've contributed there.

So I thank you that you noticed. And came away with something that helped. It sure does encourage those who would try like Metalhed, who devoted the time and patience to sit down to the drudgery of capturing the rudiments of a workable process for the rest of us. It's really appreciated. It sparked the imagination. Every bit as much for many of us as a Rip Tripper's videos…in some ways more so...because it gave us a result we could really shoot for!

Good luck Dedi. Enjoy!

:)
