Yeah, Forrest Mims' "Engineer's Mini-notebook" series were the best!

There's also a "Getting Started in Electronics" book by that same author.

All are available at Radio Shack. Or were? I haven't been there in quite a while.

Last time I was there, as soon as I stepped inside I was hassled constantly by one of the salespersons there to buy a damn cellphone from them. At the time, it seems I was the ONLY person alive that didn't own a cellphone, lol! (Keep in mind, this was some years back, my first cellphone was a huge Nokia that featured... pause for effect... SNAKE!!!)
He asked me what provider I was with and when I told him I didn't own a cellphone his facial expression was priceless; I WISH I'd taken a picture! All he needed was BSOD eyeballs! LMAO
Anyways, besides the hassle, I had gone to buy some common transistors and all they had were RCA cables and batteries and crap like that! Where the hell did all the electronics parts go? They told me they could mail order me anything I needed (for a fee) and it was then I knew RS was dead to me.

Sorry about the rant; I'll shut up now! ;)

Thanks you guys I am probably going to take a class next semester as I am currently in school anyways and I had a lot of fun putting together the mod I made. Unfortunately there isn't a Fry's in CO, the only store I know of here that might have it is Micro Center and they are more of a computer store and it's a long drive so I want to wait till I need something else before I go check it out. As for Radio Shack, I went to the one we have in town for a Li-Ion charger and the guy there just looked at me with a sad face and said that Radio Shack is not what it used to be and they pretty much only sell phones and camera stuff now. I will look into the books by Forest Mims though. Thank you for the info as always you guys are a huge help!
