Looking for a good Mechanical Mod setup

Backstory:
So I'm using a cigalike (White Rhino Dube to be exact) style battery currently but the charge dosn't seem to last long enough and i'm getting a lot of dry hits with the clearomizer that I'm using currently.

What I'm interested in:
I'd like a Mechanical mod for an 18650 size battery, would like it to be cheap and fairly plain as I don't care much for the looks.
A recommendation for a battery that would be between 20-30 amps safely and would last at least half a day of heavy use.
A good RDTA that's fairly easy to rebuild and that uses a dual coil setup. Also would like good flavor and vapor production (but that's an opinion so not sure if there's one that stands far above the other options).
A good changer that holds 2 batteries and displays how charged they are.

Thanks for any help ahead of time :)

Woosh Brandon, you are in for a wild ride and a ton of learning. Go here (and other places) and go nuts:

http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/fo...op-reference-shop-new-experienced-vapers.html

1. Caravela or Astro. Heavily lean towards the Caravela.

2. Too many variables, but stick to a sane ohm and pick up some samsung 25rs at illumn or rtd. Go through this to understand the variables:

Battery drain | Steam Engine | free vaping calculators

3. Tugboat/steamboat or tobeco dark horse.

4. Nicore d2

5. You forgot an ohm meter/multimeter. I recommend both, but if forced to choose get a cheap multimeter.

Really consider a regulated box mod, you already have a lot to learn with the coils and you're starting at square one. You can always add a mech when you feel like you know what you're doing. :) Don't skimp on the learning.

I'm new to ECF and this is my first post. Hopefully I'm following the rules, trying to.

I've been Vaping for one year now and using mech mods for 7 months. I've used a chi you, a nemesis, penny, mutant, the aspire cf mod and now a smpl which is imo the easiest and simplest to use since there are zero pins to adjust and no top cap.
Battery life depends on how much you Vape and resistance. I always carry an extra battery or two with since mech mods require higher watts resulting in shorter batt life. Make sure to use a batt with high enough amp rating to handle your ohms, ie Sony vtc4 or Samsung 35amp. But most important check your setup with an ohm meter. Vape safe.

There's a lot of setups out there. Your in Florida so it's not the boonies. Consider finding a local vape shop and talk to a few different people not just one. Everyone seems to have a personal preference and you need to find whats right for you. I could tell you what myself, my wife, and my son use but that's our preference and each one of us uses something different. When you get an idea of what you like you can post it here and get some opinions. Before you buy look online for the best price ! My local Vape shop wanted $190.00 for my SMY God Mod and I got it online for $85.00 and it's authentic ! Doing some homework and research goes a long way and the people here are experienced and helpful. Good luck in your quest !

4nine, praxis, SMPL.. all good mods and simple. but with hybrids, you want to check and make sure positive pin on the atty is sticking out.

for atty, tobh v2 is rather simple and easy to build. origen RDA is rather nice for flavor, but bit harder to build. magma is simple to build and has ok flavor.

for dual coil RTA, aqua v2 is nice.

I'm all for mechs, as I'm using one right now. If you really insist on one, I'd recommend a GP paps (very cheap on Fasttech if you can stand the wait), just so you can later get a SMPL and realize how much better it is. The hybrid hasn't caused a problem for me ever, but they do require more caution against a direct short. I'd pair it with a few cheap RDAs (I like plume veil, stillare, and tugboat personally, but there are many many more).

A cheap multimeter is a must for battery voltage, but mine is awful for measuring resistance. A dedicated 510 ohm meter would be necessary (I personally think USA ohm meters make the best available for a paltry $20 for something guaranteed to work) if your DMM is also terrible at this. I believe the Nitecore D2/D4 line of chargers display voltage, but I'm not 100% positive on that. Second on Samsung 25R's, 20A continues and last me a full day with a build drawing 15A.

But I really would recommend a regulated device since you're new to building coils. I've struggled in my transition to mechs, because a new build is the only way to change the vape; it's hard to get your feet wet enjoyably, especially without experience building. I'd recommend a cheap 30W (or more) mod, like the new iSticks. You can save a little $ now, since you don't need batteries, chargers, etc, with one.

Get a mech eventually by all means, but it could be an uphill battle for a while.

I started using mechanical mods long before RDAs & sub ohm vaping even existed. So trust me, you don't have to learn how to use one with wild and crazy builds in a rebuildable atomizer. Learn at your own pace, and enjoy the ride.

This little guy comes with a 2.4 ohm coil installed proving that you don't have to have a sub ohm monster to get a good vape.

2.4 ohms @ 4.2v = 1.75 amps, so over stressing a battery isn't a problem, and even an 18490 battery will pretty much last all day.

There are a lot of good mechanicals on the market. Of the ones I have the Caravela is my favorite. Unfortunately he stopped making them a year ago, so a clone is the only option.

Lastly, I use this battery. They are tried & true.

I second learning on a regulated mod, 20w mods are ok, I learned on my 15w mod for 6 months before upgrading to a 30w, then got a mech.

One thing not mentioned about regulated mods is that they make enjoying your build easier. With a mech you have to build to the nominal voltage of the battery and the vape becomes anemic as the battery drains. Regulated mods you can just build and adjust the power up to suit your preferences, and it's a consistent vape throught the battery life.
