I've been a smoker for a little over 25 years and in the past year and a half I've had 2 episodes of lung problems. I came across an e-cigarette article a few months ago online and made a note of it for future reference. I'm now ready to take the plunge.

I'm searching for a canadian vendor/supplier who sells the closest thing to the look and feel of a Player's Light Regular cigarette. I'm hoping that if the e-cig has the look and feel of what I've been used to for all these years, that the transition will be easier for me.

Any guidance/help is appreciated. :)

SlowPurr -

Recently, Health Canada ruled that anything with nicotine in it, must be regulated via Health Canada. So, currently there shouldn't be any ecigs on the market that offer you a nicotine solution in Canada.

My suggestion, get an ecig that looks like an ecig, tobacco flavored, 0 nic solution and slap a patch on your arm. I know... stinks. BUT... it will at least give you what you are looking for (the nicotine AND the hand to mouth). As far as the flavor of a Players... it is really hard to match tobacco flavors with the eliquids as they are just so different. My suggestion, find a couple different suppliers offering no nic juice, and try them... find something you can live with flavor wise (knowing that it isn't going to taste the same).

While eSmoking is extremely similar, you do have to make some concessions and taste is one. One thing to keep in mind is that over a few days, many find they begin to prefer the taste of the ecig over the taste of a tobacco smoke.

What? There a plenty of Canadian suppliers. I just ordered from VapeSmart.com out of Toronto yesterday.

SlowPurr, the M401 might suit you and these guys have it: electronic-cigz.com - Premium E-Cigarettes, Cartridges and Supplies

Edit: Also, VapesMart.com has the DSE-901 and the DSE-801, both very good but don't look like regular cigs. The M401 looks like a cig.

Yes... that may be so... hence my wording "shouldn't".

Hey... I am all for the ecig and I don't care where anyone buys one... buy one! We all know they are fabulous... I am only noting that Health Canada has made a ruling and that makes selling nicotine without a pharmaceutical license illegal. Now, will they enforce that? It is my understanding that Health Canada has a hard time with enforcement so nicotine eliquid is still available... it is just possible that the seller could receive a not so nice letter for selling drugs without a license.

And... to further back up D's suggestion.. electronic-cigz.com, good people... so definitely stop in there and have a look. But contact Sean (his email is on the contact page) and see if they are still shipping nicotine within CDN)

We have lots of sources in Canada, most are extremely reliable with good people involved. Lacey, the FDA doesn't allow shipments into the US and customs are seizing them (with about the same rate of effectiveness as Canadian customs) so I'm not sure why the caveat is posted only for Canadian customers.

SlowPurr, good luck with whatever you decide. There are a lot of great Canadians on these forums to help you out if you get stuck.

Nuck - I am only going off of what Health Canada told me specifically. They said that no-nicotine was fine and that the devices sold without nicotine are fine. They said that anyone wanting to sell nicotine products in Canada must go through this process: Notice - To All Persons Interested in Importing, Advertising or Selling Electronic Smoking Products in Canada

But either way, I thought the point of the thread was for advice to this newbee looking for an ecig. I gave my advice... that's all.

I understand that but I know you have called the FDA to see what the process is in the US. I just found it odd that you would apply the warning to the Canadian thread but have never seen you post those same warnings to American newbies and make the same statements about American suppliers.

I think it is fairly obvious to any reasonable person that vaping is many, many times safer than smoking. Even with the regulatory nonsense that needs to be worked out, I'd hate to think that there are people who continue to damage their health when a better alternative is available.

In Canada, it is completely legal to buy, own and use e-cigarettes. It is only the importers and suppliers that risk a possible fine.

Wow... looks like my little thread started a bit of a firestorm... :?: Though it does seem to have been clarified and happy to see that it has. :)

I've taken a look at the M401 Ultra E-Cig Starter Kit DMacRae and it does look promising... Unfortunately they only seem to sell it in black and I'd prefer to have a white one. It's important that the e-cig resembles my regular cancer sticks as much as possible, call it a psychological thing. That being said I've saved it to my favorites.

LOL! Nope not exactly what I was looking for but thanks for the chuckle.

Thanks to all who've replied.

Nuck - I think maybe you might have misunderstood my first post. I was referring to a conversation that I had with Health Canada, not the FDA, as the FDA's lack of ruling in the states doesn't affect Canadians... but the ruling by Health Canada does. Also, SlowPurr, please understand that I was not meaning it is illegal to possess an ecig... quite the opposite. The ecig is an awesome option, no matter who you purchase from... and if Canadian suppliers are still offering nicotine solution, then great!

PS. I would like to call a truce on this because I honestly mean no harm.

my taste buds, my opinion

35 years since i started smoking du maurier kings [still smoke em at work but down to 7 a day there, none at home]
similar to players in throat/lung hit just different taste
i find ecigs taste better than cigs
you want to go with Tim's Vapes Mart - Canada's #1 Supplier of Personal Vaporizers and Accessories 24mg marlboro flavour to get some throat hit to start you off [canadian, good prices, no tax, fast ship, 5% discount code]
will change later when/if you get into cutting with pg/vg
they add some sweetness to the taste that is nice

i also thought, like you, i needed something that looked like a traditional cig so i bought a white Evo [interchangeable with M401]
gotta admit i love it but now i know that all the ecis have drawbacks from the 2 models i own
the M401's batteries and carts don't last long so i bought an 801
the 801 lasts longer, bigger battery and carts but tastes different too, using the same juice
i prefer the Evo taste
there is a slight difference between the Evo and M401 atomizers [i bought some for spares] but its not much
my 801's are leaking if the cart is full and in any position except cart down vertically
Evo doesn't leak
both models will put juice in your mouth after they have been refilled a few times unless you clean the carts

for me the perfect ecig would need a manual switch and long battery life
i made my own manual usb passthrough from my flakey Evo battery and love it best but its only for home use

this leads me to think the joye 510/janty manual switch ecigs would be best but i don't have one so i don't know its flavour or drawbacks

btw, needing it to look like a real cig passed very quickly for me when performance took the lead
still the white Evo will blend in, in a crowd

I have no idea of the quality of this product but, there is a new one out there ships to Canada and has a mini cig as close to a real cig as you'll get and it comes with a charging case which is nice as most mini's have very poor life My Blu Cig - Electronic Cigarettes . There is a thread on the forum about them some people have tried them and like them. I am still waiting to see a review from an experienced vaper, but it looks interesting.

I am a fan of the Evo as well, but the wait time to have it shipped in is a long on where they have to come from the UK. The Intellicig Evolution is a modified M401 as others have stated. I originally did get a white Evo so it would "blend in", but then ordered in a black set specifically because it was different.
A blue or green LED with the matt black color seems to generate more interest in the personal vaporizer and a more open minded attitude to their use. Spikey made a great(if long) intro to vaping video http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/new-members-forum/8952-new-updated-comprehensive-intro-vaping.html, I recommend giving it a watch.
Best of luck, check the supplies listing to find out who is shipping what model.
PM me if you have any specific questions I may be able to assist with, Nuck wont steer you wrong, his advise is sound as is many of the members of this forum.

I must admit, the first time I bought any e cigs I felt psychologicaly that the closer the resemblence the better. I bought one white and one black for when I smoked in none smoking areas. Wow the second day I tried the black one and I was hooked. Amazingly it felt the same, and the sleek look was awsome. My recomandation to you is to think more about battery and cartridge life. Do yourself a favor and watch the vid Wing comander recomended. It helped me a lot

Welcome SlowPurr,

I wanted something that looked like a real cig as well and ordered an EVO from Intellicig in the UK Electronic Cigarettes, Electric Cigarette, E-Cigarettes, E-Cig, E-Liquid . I also have some of Seans goodies from electronic-cigz.com - Premium E-Cigarettes, Cartridges and Supplies a Canadian supplier. The items from both suppliers are interchangable. On Intellicig prices are in Pounds 1GBP = 1.85 CAD.

I ordered from Intellicig on a Wednesday night and even coming from overseas I picked it up at the post office the following Friday. No issues with customs.

I've been very pleased with both products and the level of service from each of them.

PM me if you have questions

I am in awe, it took almost 3 weeks for my orders to arrive, mostly due to sitting in customs a long time. I hope my next order goes as quick as yours.
