Hello ECF community, I know theres a million threads on this (believe me, I've read just about all of them), but I am in the market for a new mech mod. After countless hours of reading threads on here and watching youtube videos, I think I have finally narrowed it down to a few. Right now I am thinking about getting the brass stingray (number 1 right now), that new AR mod but I havent heard much about that one I just like how it looks, or the poldiac since so many people stand behind that one. I always go to this site for information so figured I would ask for all of your input and personal experience with each of these mods. The main criteria I have for a new mod is a very low voltage drop, either something really nice looking or cool looking, not plain SS look because I already have a SS vanilla, and I do not want telescopic, just a straight 18650 tube since I am usually vaping at <.5 ohms with a dripper.

I know this is very subjective but I want to hear your input. Thanks for the help!:vapor:

I can speak to the Poldiac as I have two of them.
I have really enjoyed them and they have given me great service so far. With a 1 ohm coil and a Sony VTC4 battery I get a voltage drop of around .1 volts. You can change the looks of the Poldiac by changing the pants and shirt. I have a polished stainless steel Poldiac and a polished brass Poldiac. I have sets of the pants and shirt in polished stainless steel, satin stainless steel and polished brass. With these items I can have six different looks with my Poldiacs.

MMVapors is also coming out with a new bottom switch mod called the Nanos. They have been on preorder and should be ready to ship any day now.
Here is the link to them.

i can't speak for the stingray or ar, but the poldiac is indeed a very nice mod with a very low voltage drop. the side button is also something unique, and it was executed very well.

EDIT: just went to have a quick vape on my poldi + did and wanted to make a quick addition... i've played around with and used a lot of "high-end" mods, and there's not a whole lot out there that just reeks of quality like a poldiac. everything about it seems so well thought out and well done, from the tight tolerances to the button design to the overall feel of the device. a little pet peeve of mine is how everyone seems to throw around the phrase "buttery smooth" when referring to their mod, but i can tell you from experience, 99% of the mods out there are about as smooth as sandpaper in comparison to a poldiac.

I am a gun nut, also. I've seen several AR mods in person and talked to their owners. Looks great, large, heavy as hell, and (from what I'm hearing) has low voltage drop. Every one that had the spring fire button had sticking issues. One was stuck so badly it disabled the mod permanently. Only one with the magnetic switch upgrade hade the same issues. Be ware if you go for one of those. As for the brass Stingray, I own #327 and it has been flawless! Compact, reliable, beautiful, lower voltage drop than anything else I can get ahold of, and a switch delivered by singing angels. I dropped it (accidentally) from the second story, tumbling end over end down a stone stairs onto concrete. This caused the lock ring to strip some threads making the lock no longer functional. The switch lives on and I'm still using the mod at home and while driving, while waiting for my new brass Stingray I ordered Sunday. It's that good. Can't wait until JD Tech makes atty's! I have no personal experience with the Poldiacs.

Thanks for the input guys, I've been hearing more and more good things about the poldiac and stingray. Just out of curiosity where did you acquire a stingray blind squirrel? One of my buddies just offered to sell me his authentic king mod for a good price so that adds another option to the table. Also, anyone tried out or know specs about that new illuminatus mod? Looks pretty cool and has an interesting switch but it's pretty hard to find detailed info on right now

It was a conversation at a b&m that led to me calling a shop, and now having a tracking number. Although I'm sure everything is fine, I haven't worked with the company before so I'm hesitant to throw their name out there until I know for sure the transaction is legit. I will be posting on it when it arrives and can send you a p.m. also. Should be here Thursday or Friday.

If you are looking for a very low voltage drop mod, try checking out Bay City Vapor's copper mod the XXIX (in their testing, vd was either 0 or .004 or something like that) or the brass Surfrider (also very low voltage drop, .012 I think).

You can find out more info about the mod in the CaliVapers forum. He is a SoCal company based out of Seal Beach, CA. As of right now, his mods are pretty high in demand and he just started recently selling it to BnM shops instead of purchasing the mods outright from his website baycityvapor.com. The shops he did approve to carry his mods were doing preorders and as of right now, they are all sold out.

I know this info doesn't really help you as far as availability goes, but if by some chance you are able to pick one up, do it. You won't be disappointed. You don't see a lot of people trying to resell theirs in the classifieds but you will see a few here and there.

I've been looking into an Ember and a Sir Lancelot, also the Akuma.

I kinda shelved the Akuma though 'cause I'm looking for a solid 18650 tube (no extensions), for better conductivity and less points of possible corrosion etc.

There is another I've got my eye on, big time... like checking in every day and corresponding with the modder a bunch... but I can't say it here 'cause I know there will only be a few and I NEED one lol.

I'd love me a Paps Lux, but they are unattainable on any level, apparently.

It's first come first served, so you got to be on top of it when they go on sale. You may also add yourself to the wait/wish list at domo vapor to get notification when back in stock.

I understand the theoretical reasons why a solid tube would have less voltage drop than a separated tube, but in my tests of the Akuma in 18650 mode the voltage drop was less than .1v (it was .09v). Reality and theory don't always match.

There are exactly as many possible points of corrosion with the Akuma than if it had a full 18650 tube.
