Hi guys,

I am new to the forums, but not new to vaping. So I am hoping I am posting this in the correct section, otherwise a mod can move my post to the appriopate forum. :)

I have been using my Joytech eVic (not supreme) for several years. I recentely replaced it by a new eVic (same model), because the old was damaged.

I have been using Vivi Nova clearomizer from day 1 in combination with 2.8 ohm coils. I really appreciate the vape. What I don't like is the leakage, which (unfortunately) happens quite a lot. Even though I am not filling it completely full, it will still leak for some reason. I even bought several new Vivi Nova clearomizers, but with the same result.

Anyways, since I bought the eVic and Vivi Nova clearomizer back in the day, a lot has changed.

Therefor I am wondering if there are better alternatives out there in regards to clearomizers for my eVic.

I vape a lot, really a lot, with my eVic in combination with Vivi Nova. I normally vape at 2.8 ohm at 3.0 volts. Which translates to 3.2 W (seems low compared to several things I read on the internet about 30 and even 40 Watts), but I like it.

Something else I don't like about the Vivi Nova is the fact when it comes close to being empty, you are starting to get dry hits (probably because the wicks can't suck up the fluid anymore decently?), so you have to refill the clearomizer, even if it's not empty.

I will keep using my eVic, because I like it. I just want to replace the Vivi Nova with something else, which;

- doesn't leak fluid from time to time (very annoying)
- has the same / similiar vaping experience as the Vivi Nova
- can contain a decent amount of fluid (at least 2.5 ml)
- doesn't cause dry hits when fluid is getting low (maybe wicks at the bottom?)

I hope I make any sense and I know the eVic is kinda old, but I still hope there are good alternatives to the Vivi Nova.

Thank you in advance for your help and input!

Regards,
Michel

Hi mate,
Have you tried the aspire BDC (bottom dual coil) vivi nova?
It might be just what you are looking for.

Thanks guys for thinking along. Highly appreciated.

In terms of output will both be similar as what I am using now?
(sorry for asking silly questions, but I never looked further other than the Vivi Nova to be honest).

I am reading a lot of positive things on the Aspire Nautilus BDC Tank. The only thing which (kinda) worries me is the lower 1.8 ohm coil rating (compared to the 2.80 ohm coils I am using with my Vivi Nova). But maybe I am overlooking things...?

Michel

Wow, a blast from the past. Top coil tanks like the vivi nova are getting harder to find. My wife has been using the Kanger T2 for 3+ years, but most of the places I buy replacement coils no longer carry them.

I don't know the limits of the Evic, but I bet it won't do subohm coils. I might suggest something in the Protank series like the Protank 2 (but get the optional airflow control base). These are at least the same vintage and you can get higher ohm replacement coils.

I would recommend the Aspire ETS Ego Clearomizer; which is similar in most ways to your Vivi Nova, but slightly updated version. 1.8 ohm are the most common Heads for this tank but if you look can probably find other resistance Heads. Also it's Ego friendly so will look good and fit right on your Ego.
I'm sure one of the ECF Forum Suppliers have them.

Keep Vaping
Peace

Bottom feeding coils (gravity fed, not to be confused with squonkers or Reo devices) are "in" because you don't have to the tilt/swirly action to keep the wicks moist.

The downside is that now you have to settle for 1.8 ohms or less. But really, you'll just need to lower your watts/volts.

Aspire nautilus regular or mini with BVC replacement heads. (not BDC)
Eleaf gs air, gs air m.
Either will work well, the GS air is less expensive.

The wicking ability & airflow of a viva nova is very poor, the two recommended are a fairly large improvement over what you've been using.

Using either you simply adjust power output up/down to find what you like in vape quality.

I want to thank everyone for their input. I really didn't expect this much answers! Highly appreciated.

I decided to try the Aspire Nautilus BVC Edition as recommended by several. I think this is the 'Regular' version and not the mini, but I am not sure.

    The specifications are:
    Height of Nautilus Tank System:83.65mm
Max Diameter of Nautilus Tank System: 23.45mm

I also looked up the specifications of the 'Mini'-model, but that one is (if I am correct) 10mm less in height and 4mm smaller diameter. So I am ordering the correct (Regular) one, right?

Maybe the 'Mini'-model would be also right, for me, but I am not sure. I prefer a bigger tank contents.

Anyways (sorry for all the questions), are the coils the same for the 'Regular' and 'Mini' or are they different in size? I cannot find information on that either.

On a sidenote; I noticed the BVC coils are available in 3 different models. 1.6 Ohm, 1.8 Ohm and 2.1 Ohm. Given my past with Vivi Nova and Joyetech eVic (at 2.8 ohm), my best bet would be the 2.1 Ohm, right?

Also someone in here mentioned to use a lower voltage, however I am already running the minimum voltage as it is on my eVic (which is 3.0v). I cannot go lower.

I hope someone (experienced with the Aspire Nautilus) can answer my questions. Thanks!

    Regards,
    Michel

The heads for the regular size or mini are the same.
Be sure to thoroughly prime them before use to prevent burning the wicking material.

Prime by dripping drops of e liquid on top of the screen in the head & allowing them to soak in. 5- 10 drops depending on size of drop.

I find it easiest to do this before installing head in base. Tilt slightly, drip 1 - 3 drops on top of screen, allow to soak in, keep doing this until wicking material is fully saturated. The wicking material you can see through the wicking hole in the side of the head will turn translucent may be a little will leak out of the wicking holes (not a problem).

Install head into base tight, fill tank, thread tank & base together snug, not tight, install on power device, give it a few un powered primer puffs (inhales without pressing the fire button). You should see a buble or two rise from the wicking holes. Let sit a few minutes.
Vape, start off low & work your way up taking a vape or three on each setting & experiment with the air flow control to find what you like.

Most likely you will use higher power than with the viva nova.
You can get anything from a cold vape to a rather warm vape by playing with power output & airflow.

How often you need to replace the head is dependent mostly on the liquids you vape & the mils used rather than days/weeks.

Dark or colored or thick and especially sweet and low quality e liquids tend to clog wicking material & gunk coils rapidly.

I get very good head life vaping clear non sweet 50/50 12w - 17.6w.
    With unflavored, excellent head life.

It's a good idea to buy a 5 pack of heads along with the delivery device.

I have been using Vermillion Juice - KPB Kentucky Premium Blend from day one. :)
Tried 2 others, but meh, but I guess taste is personal.
