Looking for advice for my first purchase, and where to buy in Pennsylvania.

In coming wall of text, thank you in advance to those of you who read all of it, and more thanks to those who answer.

First its not quite my first purchase, I have tried the Blu Disposables. I liked the disposables well enough and originally bought them to see if buying a starter kit would be a waste of money or not.

As i did more research I found lots of complaints about the blu cigs, mostly cartridge problems. I also found a lot of recommendations for the 510 style.

I smoke mostly on my commute and while out and about, due to this I would like to stay roughly cigarette sized, give or take a little. I would also prefer to use auto batteries and cartridges, for ease of use while driving.

I am currently looking at three kits and looking for advice as to which selection would serve me best, and some conformation or corrections on the pros and cons as I see them. Any other suggestions are welcome.

First, Blu Cigs.

Pros, the cartridges are readily available at gas stations and pharmacies in my area. The whole system is compact. The PCC can store an assembled e cig while charging and holding 5 spare carts.

Cons, Possible Cart problems. Short battery life. Expensive to buy carts. Attention seeking and social features.

second, Joye kit from cignot. https://www.cignot.com/product_p/kit-510-pcc.htm (I believe I saw a favorable review of this distributor on these forums.)

Pros, Ease of cart filling. Large selection of accessories and parts. Favorable reviews on this and other sites. Better Value

Cons, Cannot buy prefilled carts in numerous brick and mortar locations. PCC seems to only hold one battery 2 carts and an atomizer, and may not regulate over charging.

and finally Volt kit from smokeless image. Smokeless Image | The Best Electronic Cigarette

Pros, Ease of cart filling. Favorable reviews on this and other sites. PCC holds 2 batteries. Better Value.

Cons, Cannot buy prefilled carts in numerous brick and mortar locations. PCC may not hold assembled e cig, and 3 carts 1 atomizer, and may not regulate charging.

Looking at the flavors offer with the linked kits, I noticed RY4, is this a tobacco flavored juice? I would like to start with a tobacco flavored juice and try a different flavor with my kit purchase, despite advice on these forums to the contrary. I feel this would help the transition. The Blu "tobacco" flavor tasted alright to me, but I would have called it more of an espresso flavor.

Any recommendations on a "tobacco" flavor to start with on the either of the linked kits? incidentally the black tea flavor available with the joye kit sounds good to me, so opinions on that would also be more than welcome.

One last thing, I live near Reading and Allentown PA, and work in Harrisburg, PA. If any one knows of any brick and mortar stores near any of these locations or the route between them I would love to know.

Things really get burried fast here

hehe... you catch on quick!! :D

as far as those kits go, i can only speak on the 510's which i've actually tried.. i will be honest and tell you that i did outgrow them within a week. the cartridges just are a pain to keep filling up.
once i finally got my eGos and a few CE4's and then tried direct dripping, i put the 510's in a drawer.

with the auto batteries.. it may seem like you are gaining a lot of convenience by not having to push a button, but i can not stand the way they suck the battery power. manual is definitely the way to go.

a lot of what is going to work best for you is just going to have to come organically from what you prefer... me myself, if i was in a car commuting i would get an eGo passthrough with the auto/cig lighter adapter.. and fill a few CE4's with different flavors.. this way you can unscrew and re-screw on a new flavor if you want... but that's just me :D

welcome to ECF..!

Thanks for your input.
Maybe I'm basing my assumption of what will work best for me on misinformation. I see a lot of people saying that the 510s will only give an hour or two of use, but does that mean if I use it a few minutes here and there throughout the day it will last all day, or after an hour of using it occasionally it will be dead?

Hi and welcome to ECF.
First, Blu Cigs.
Although many began with Blu they eventually upgraded to a better model.
Joye kit from cignot
Not a bad kit but quite expensive IMO.
Volt kit from smokeless image
Highly rated cig sized PV with 15% discount code and if you post your pic in the SI Forum receive free juice, cartos or battery.
As Jessy mentioned I also believe you should get a pass through for use in the car.
Batt info- 100 mah= 1 hr vaping before recharge and each battery is good for about 300 charges/ cycles. As for buying prefilled cartos it's better to fill your own and is quite easy- much cheaper and a whole new world of flavors opens up. Realize also there are 2 main threading types- 510 and 808- 510 is most popular. There are no retail shops in your area as far as I could see.

I get around
Welcome to ECF!

You mentioned PA, I believe there is a store in Philly, if it's still open. Most brick and mortar stores in pa don't survive long in a rural area.

1- Blucigs : they are a nice introduction to vaping but most people outgrow them very fast. I have a few PCC and batteries around if you pm me your address I will send you a kit, sorry no cart's left.

2- Joye Kit : same concept as blu but with a slight larger manual batt.

3- Volt : I have never tried one as they are not a 510 device (connection). One of my friends purchased one and she likes it better then the Blu's a let her borrow.

As far as B&M shops around here no luck I have been searching for one on and off for about a year. Now goodprophets.com has ultra fast shipping, If I order before 3:00 P.M. I always get my package the next day.

I believe the volt is an 808 correct? Does the 808 being less popular affect options for accessories/upgrades available outside of smokeless image?
Yes it's an 808 BUT...
"for the 808 to 510 adapter to work, you must have a MANUAL volt. The Automatics will not work with any adapter that I've found so far. Has to do with the air hole on the sides of the battery rather than the center post."
Also realize that with most of the cig sized PVs you are limited to the accessories you can add on because the batts are not powerful enough.
As with the 510 if I did decide to go ego later I could use a lot of the one accessories from the mini.
Yes it is a 510 threading which is what eGo class and most other PVs are BUT most of us have upgraded to either cleaqromizers or Vivi Novas as they hold far more juice. Realize the eGo fires at 3.4 volts while the Kgo fires at 3.7 volts and is less expensive "if" you were going that route. I have used both and their is a difference in the vape. If you were upgrading to an eGo class PV I'd suggest the Twist as it vapes from 3.3- 4.8...just future food for thought.

Generally you'll find retail is usually more expensive and many of us just use them for emergencies. The very best place to meet other vapers, sample juices and PCs are Vapemeets
Pennsylvania Vapers
Good Luck.

Thanks, if I'm in that area I'll have to stop. From the website I'm not sure it warrants a special trip.

I started with a Blu disposable, went and got a Blu kit, and now have a few VV eGo's and some Novas and Startdusts and a few DCTs.

I can't comment on any of your other choices, but for the Blu, IF you go that way, I'd give these few recs.

1. Get the kit, and a spare battery or two. One in use, one on charge, one charged in the pack. And maybe a 4th for backup (you can charge from any usb port). Battery life is about what you would expect from such small batteries.

2. Buy your carts directly from Blu. It's cheaper when you buy in bulk, and in my personal experience, I had WAY less problems with the ones shipped directly from them than I did with the ones I got at the corner drug store.

3. Learn to refill them! You can buy juice, and just add drips to the cartridges to keep them wet (never let them dry out, the burnt taste is terrible!!!). You just have to match the flavors you are filling to something near the original. (Cherry = cherry, or blackcherry, or some "berry" type liquid and so on). Also, you can buy blanks to fit the Blu and fill them (then you don't have to worry about flavor matching, and it might be cheaper).

I liked my Blu. I still use it from time to time. I'm about to lend it to a friend to go on a cruise with.

The Blu might not be the best option out there, I've heard GREAT things about the Volt, and if I had it to do over again, I might go that way instead, but the Blu doesn't have to be a failure.
