Looking for advice on a decent mech mod

As far as clones, a good place to start would be a Chi You clone made by Hcigar. I have 2 that performs flawlessly and are very solid in its construction. Check it out.

If you haven't tried the nemesis, check it out :) it's more convenient in terms that the adjustment for the battery is really simple without the guess work

Ya, I have 2 Nemesis. The only issue I have with those are the switches - they IMO, are a little crunchy to me. I even tried upgrading to magnets, still crunchy. Crunch, crunch, crunch. LOL. Once you make the adjustments for the battery on the Chi, you're pretty much set unless you plan to change brands or something of that sort.

Oh man, i only somewhat get a crunch from my brass one, but only if i try pressing from the edge, the stainless one works flawlessly for me. I just posted on another thread about this and im sure you know, but make sure the pins are in real tight haha.
Ah, I agree with you on that. I was using different batteries on the chi for a while, so i did have to do the adjustments -_-

If you are on a budget and don't mind clones, look at the fasttech Launcher V2 clone. Under $20 and it is my favorite mech at the moment. Solid copper pins, good smooth threads, heavy duty construction with good materials... the only drawback I can think of is that the top cap is tapered and does not blend seamlessly my Kayfun 3.1 atomizer (also a Hcigar clone).

I also own Hcigar clones of the Sentinel M16 and King SS... and bought two Smok Magnetos (given as gifts to family members). The Hcigar clones are excellent, but cost more without providing any significant benefit over the Launcher. The Magneto is pretty good, but not as good quality (construction, materials, voltage drop) as the others.

Greetings Steve, welcome to the forum. I haven't looked back, since getting my first mech (although I still use my regulated mod regularly).

Now that you have 5+ posts on ECF, if you become a verified member, you can check out the classifieds, and get a higher end mech at a really decent price. I got one of mine that way, and am really happy with it.

A lot of people...myself included...somehow think that moving to mechanical mod is going to improve the vape experience. I only own one mech but I don't think it is going to help unless you get into the sub-ohm resistances. They only push out what the battery is capable of so 4.2-3.2 volts depending on how charged the battery is.

If your looking for a better vape than your current ego type battery I would probably suggest looking into a Variable Voltage (VV) mod at first. Even something like an ego-twist for starters. The Vamo is also a fairly cheap option to get your feet wet with VV.

As for a mech this is the only one I own and it's now a bargain for only $7 ;) Gripper Great for a stealth vape mod as well. As said I don't think moving to a mech is better...they just allow you to use sub-ohm coils which I've yet to do myself...I think what your truly after is a VV/VW mod at first.
