I am still learning a bit more about vaping as I go along.
I started with the Blu disposable, then blu starter kit. Then moved up into a Halo G6 and mini tanks. Now I am currently on a Halo Triton (650mah) and I am rebuilding my coils.
I am just looking at where I should go next as an upgrade? Dont get me wrong, I love my Triton. But I feel like it is a middle ground and somewhat limiting, especially in terms of being locked into the 808 threading.

I have been reading some reviews on the Innokin MVP2 and Itaste 3vv/vw, and they do have my interest. And i hate to admit it, one reason is because of the non-changable batteries. I am somewhat intimidated about the whole battery thing (naming/sizes/flat vs button top/etc....)

What I want is more of everything. More flavor, more power, more options, more choices for future tech.
And I know its hard to compare everything since there is so much out there, and I havnt seen a clearcut list of all available items ranked in terms of performance. Like for doing computer upgrades, you can find lists all over the place that ranks processors and video cards based on specs and it makes it easy to see if you are actually upgrading or doing more of a lateral move when switching brands. Havnt seen a list like that for vapor tech and there is so much out there.

What would you guys suggest for me? And since it will most likely be a move away from 808 threads, what about a suitable clearomizer?
Also, I would like to add. I would like to keep the price under $150. A little over is alright.... but I cant justify spending tons of money at the moment

Let's break it down.

  • The first thing most consider is "form factor"... the shape and size of APV you want to deal with. 510 (and eGo for sticks) is the most common, universal connector form.
Stick, tube, box... and less common stuff like, bottom feeders (Reo), e-pipes... and stuff that looks like gun parts. ;-)
  • The next is battery life... how long you want it to last without recharge or replacement. A vape "battery drain" calculator can be handy to figure this sort of thing out.
  • A big one... power output. Will you be rebuilding at increasingly lower resistances? If so, then you need greater current output to support those resistances adequately. This is where Ohm's Law calculations become important. For example... 1.0Ω at 4v requires 4 amps / 16 watts. 0.5Ω requires twice those values.
  • Next is power control. Regulated... VV, VW or both? VW is frequently referred to as the "set it and forget it" method of power control. Or... with an unregulated device like a mech mod, output is controlled solely by the resistance and current (amperage) parity. Again... Ohm's Law. Our 0.5Ω build absolutely requires a minimum continuous current output of 8 amps.
  • You have a price point... is that for the APV/mod, or does that include an upscale atomizer as well?
  • You don't need to be intimidated by batteries... they are simply a part of the equation - one that, like anything where you move into advanced products, requires a bit of product education... just like you've educated yourself on coil building. Plenty of education and knowledge available on ECF... all you need to do is ask the right questions.
  • You want options for future tech? That's hard to do with a regulated APV... what you get is what you get. You're (likely) not going to go in and modify the chip on your own.
Oddly... there may be more "options" with a mech mod. One that comes readily to mind is the option of using a Kick to turn your mech mod into a regulated device... and back again, if you so choose.
  • You'll notice that I'm not promoting any products... I'll leave that for someone else. There are far too many choices these days, particularly with APVs, and they're changing almost daily.
I will say that although the MVP an 3.0 are great APVs (I've owned both) and still have a place... they both have power limitations if you intend to go below 1.2Ω.
That's it. Click on my first sigline hyperlink. It directs you to a great deal of information and links on rebuildables, mech mods, batteries and other useful knowledge.

Thanks for the info state.
As far as size, really didn't want anything to big or looking like gun parts :) but something with vv/vw processor controlled is what i was shooting for, for now
The price point was going to be for the pv and a tank for now.

I've found my 650batteries last me a good time between charges. So if i can get a day out of it atleast, that would be ideal

The MVP 2 has a 2600 mAh battery which lasts me about 2 days. The vv v3 has an 800 mAh battery which should last you a bit longer than your 650 if you are using a similar atomizer. I love my MVP. I, at first, was afraid it was too big, but once I had it in my hand felt it was a good fit. I am not a fan of the iClears that come with the MVP but they will be familiar to you since they are top coil like the Halo tanks you have been using.
