Hi All!

I am looking for a dripping setup primarily to taste new juices without filling/saturating/cleaning my evod/protank clearos. I am currently learning a bit about rebuildables, but only have experience rewicking kanger coils without damaging the wire coil. So I can twist a new cotton wick and carefully rebuild without having to coil my own (I don't yet have the supplies or experience with that).

So my question is twofold:

1) With my current kanger coils, is it possible to convert a protank into a dripper without rewiring? (there is this great video but I can't wire a coil at the moment: Make Your Protank Into A Dripper Atomizer! Drip With Your Protank! - YouTube)

2) If I cannot do this, can you recommend me a relatively cheap and possibly rebuildable dripper setup?

Thanks! :D

Edit: forgot to mention I currently have standard eGo 510 batteries (kanger model) but also have the iTaste MVP v2 mod in the mail!

In my past Experience with protanks, I would not think you could make a Protank into a dripper. Being that the coil intakes air from the bottom, so the juice may just seep through and get into your battery (Not saying its impossible).

Now I bought recently a Patriot dripper clone from eBay for $17 (I saw some for 15, but the 17 had faster shipping). If you don’t mind the wait Fasttech.com has drippers for $4-$8.

You could also pick up a cheap Igo-W. $20 or so at most B&M's. Make sure to have the air holes drilled out for better air flow, as the stock ones are really small.

There is also the Immortalizer RDA. I've been told that it produces amazing flavor due to the way the airflow works. Should work well on the MVP as long as you keep the build above .8 Ohms. Retails in the low $30's

And that comes pre-coiled? So if I was careful I could away with my semi-rebuild wick-only technique I've been doing with my kanger coils to avoid rewiring.

Some RDA's will come with a pre-built coil, but most will use Silica. I would suggest learning to wrap your own coils. It isn't that difficult to do, and it opens you up to some amazing possibilities. Just be sure to read up on electronic safety. With a dripper, you will have to replace the coil eventually.

Not sure how many Vape shops you have in your area, but most places will help you with your first build.

Looks like I can get Anyvape Tridents or Numbus here in Ireland fairly reasonably. Any specific models/clones you guys recommend?

I've only been Vaping for alil over a week and I'm already interested in a drip setup. Plus I'm also interested I'm DIY juice so I figured a drip setup would be good for testing purposes.

Would a igo-w do alright on a mvp2 ?

Got sooo much to learn. I think that's part of the attraction to Vaping to me.

Against Popular belief, In my opinion most drippers are the same. Its a well with a negative and positive post (Sometimes 2 or more). For some people its more the "Name" than the actual performance of the device.

Nimbus, Tridents, Patriot all basically the same thing. It's all about if you like a deep well or Multiple posts or Single post and a Shallow well. As to the performance, they are all just about the same, depending on what coil build you decide to make. Airflow has alot to do with it also, but if its too little airflow on one device compared to another, you can just drill it out.

With an MVP I would think you would go with a single coil setup. Making a dual coil will half your ohms, for example if you made 2 1.8 ohm coils the resulting ohm built would be 0.9 Ohm. I believe that the MVP has a chip that wont let it fire below 1.2Ohm.So for it to even fire you would have to build 2 2.4ohm coils (I would say 2 2.5-2.6 Ohm to be on the safe side). It would be a slower "Ramp Up" time for the coils.

There are plenty of good dripping atomizers (both rebuildable & non-rebuildable). Asking which is best is as subjective as asking which liquid flavor is best. I will say that no rebuildable is any better than the wick & coil that YOU put in it.

If all I wanted from a dripper was just testing flavors, I would just get a $6 510 atomizer.

I know what you mean, Ive been vaping for a little over 6 months, and I am by NO MEANS an expert, I still have a ton to learn.

That is a smaller clone of the Patriot; 20 mm vs 22 mm. There is also a 22 mm clone on Fasttech, but it only has one airhole, and doesn't sound that great. Read the discussion thread on it; people are reporting really small holes on the posts, broken o-rings, etc. I'd go for the Tobeco clone, sold on ebay and by various vendors. You should be able to get it for under $15. btw if on ebay make sure you're getting the Tobeco version; ebay is as likely to sell the ft version for twice the price lol.

The Tobeco Patriot is the only rda I own. I haven't touched a protank since receiving it; really easy to rebuild.

Here's my recommendation for flavor testing/switching on the MVP:

    YK1 Rebuildable Dripping Atomizer - $5.93
Replacement Wicks and Wires for Rebuildable Atomizer - $9.59

For described purposes, I think you will be more than pleased. Works very well for me. And here's a hint; trim your wicks on the short side to allow faster flavor changes. If primed, drip four drops for five-six solid draws. If not primed, use five drops. Enjoy!

P.S. FT has even cheaper premade coils, but their quality is not good. Meanwhile the above are quite good and roughly $.20 each. Should last a 1-4 days depending on cleaning and vape.

The YK1 is a small chamber, single coiled dripper that is hassle free and delivers very good flavor.

    Thanks for the tip.

One other thing. What about the kayfun? I read you can use it in regular tank mode but also in drip mode without the tank. Sounds like a good option? Any thoughts?

Over complicated for a simplistic task if all you want is to drip to test flavors. Plus the price 8-o
The dripper that functions the same as a KF (air hole under the coil) is the A7.

The kayfun is awesome. I bought a EHPRO Kayfun Lite Plus Clone on ebay for $34-36 (Yes I'm an ebay nut). The flavor does taste like a dripper, but if you using it to constantly change flavors, I don't recommend it as its a pain to take apart with a full tank (You get juice everywhere, so I tend to take it apart when its almost empty).

I tend to stick to 1-2 Flavors so the kayfun is perfect for me.

    1. No.

    2. I just made the switch to dripping a couple weeks ago and I love it. I did quite a bit of research before buying and ended up getting a Patriot clone to put on top of a Magneto. Shop around, I found that Mt Baker had the best price on the Magneto and a place called Vapnificent had an average price for the Pat clone, but they were the only place I could find with them in stock. I went to Amazon for MNKE 18650s and a Nightcore i4.
