Green Smoke charges too much for parts like $50 for a battery - a battery should be under $20 for a nice color, under $15 for the original manufacturer's color. IMO if you want a cartomizer (2-piece) model then get the popular supported one, KR808D-1 (aka Vapor King at Vapor2Life.com and MaxxFusion at Bloogplanet.com). Green Smoke is the KR808D-2, which is the rebrander's typical 2-piece, incompatible with KR808D-1, and Green Smoke may also sell the harder to fill cartos that don't have soft caps.

The two most popular starter e-cigs here are KR808D-1 and Joye 510. Here is a comparison
http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/fo...st-electronic-cigarette-first-time-vaper.html

And they are both probably the most TH you will get out of a mini. If you want more TH than that then you need to either go to a fat-battery model and use LR (low resistance) more power-hungry parts that the fat battery can support, or go to higher voltage mods.

I was looking at the Screwdriver. Any thoughts or experiences with that model? It seems to be a good "throat hitter". I would like to be able to get a throat hit pretty much every hit. Thanks for any help I'm new to all of this.

I had a screwdriver and it was a good device and much better than a Green Smoke, 510 or KR for battery life and throat hit. It would be on par with a 1000 mAh battery eGo PV. With mini PV's (personal vaporizer) you will be changing batteries every 1 - 2 hours. If great throat hit is your main priority (which for most of us it is) then you will want a device with more power.

Better throat hit is a product of battery power and higher nicotine strength. The better battery devices are also much more consistent in their performance and TH. I would suggest you look at some of the better 5 volt devices such as the GLV2 from Electronic Cigarettes and E-Liquid - Great Lakes Vapor or a good (VV) variable volt PV such as the ProVari or the new Darwin from nhaler.com. With VV's you have ultimate flexibility. You might want to look at this site that summarizes many of the better battery devices:

Best e-Cig Mod List | e-Cig Mods Database

I would also suggest you start out with 24mg nicotince strength and then adjust it according to your needs after you have vaped for a while.

Good Luck

Note: the other nice thing about the better battery models, instead of paying $15-$20 for a battery that can only be recharged 200 times, you get to use batteries that cost $3.50 and can be recharged 2000 times. And they are not proprietary and can be bought at battery stores. (the eGo/Riva batteries ARE proprietary and cost much more)

I have a Green smoke on it's way (I do have the option to return it) that I have heard some good and some bad. This will be my first e cig. I am looking for big vapor and consistant throat hits. I have heard good things about the Joye 510. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Love the 510!! I say return the green smoke and go with the 510. I just got the 510 and have been vaping for less than a week on it and i am beyond thrilled with it! Throat hit, is killer, vape is beyond what I ever imagined..it truly is the way to go these days! Everyone is ranting and raving about the 510!

Hi BWG,
Welcome to the forum!
Another thing to keep in mind when going for the TH.
In most cases, the more PG an e-juice has, the stronger the TH. Also, most folks think that menthol, cinnamon, peppermint, and a few other flavored juices produce good TH.

VG is usually known for it's properties as a vapor producer with less of a TH.
Some folks like 80%PG/20%VG. Some 70/30, some 60/40, and still others 50/50.
Also, there are those who like all PG e-juices or all VG. Everybody is different.
You'll need to experiment for awhile and find what blend works best for you.

You've received advice from members as to what they consider to be a good e-cig to own.
IMHO, any of the above mentioned PV's(KR808, 510, Screwdriver, eGo, Riva, or a 5volt device), should provide adequate TH for most vapers.
Good luck in all of your future vaping endeavors!

Thanks for all the great and informative advice, I've got a much better idea about these devices now that I got first hand feedback instead of just what I have read. I will end up at least giving the GS a legitimate try and if it does not work out now I know where to start looking next. I should probably add something about my smoking habit. I have been smoking for over 30 yrs. and for about the last 3yrs. I only smoke about 6 to 8 cigs a day. When I smoke I only take a few hits and put it out. I will smoke off the same cig about 3 times. I dont think I need that heavy nicotine in-take but I do like a good strong, healthy hit. I smoke Marl. 100's. I'm thinking that battery life might not be that important to me because of my particular smoking habit. Again thanks for all the replys.

If you want a solid PV that will last a lifetime, check out altsmoke.com. their silver bullet and omega are what i consider the best that i've seen. There's many out there but for customer service, design, quality, and longevity, Altsmoke is great . both devices use 18650 batteries for 3.7v and 2 16340's for 6v vaping. they have another one called the BB but i haven't tried that one . it's smaller and uses a smaller battery.

Hi and welcome.

Started out with small models (mall cigs) 2 years ago and couldn't do it. Get a larger device with batteries that will allow for longer times of autonomy. You don't smoke much anymore but you make it sound like each "hit" counts. So get a 5+ volt device. Yes PG/VG ratios will make a TH difference but in my experience voltage makes a significantly greater difference. Not only do the flavors come alive but the hit is warmer and fuller. At 5v I can easily get away with 100% VG at 18mg. If I am out I usually use 24mg just to make sure I have the extra kick. With my eGO I was at 36.

This is the 2nd or 3rd time I have written this tonight but this is my experience and it appears to be directly related to your questions. I hope it helps.

All the best!

Mix in 1 part Everclear with 9 or 10 parts eliquid to boost the throat hit in any ecig (and/or cinnamon)

I've done this and as many others have stated on this forum over that last year or so, this has minmal effect on throat hit. 98% of throat hit is attributed to warmth of the vapor as a result of more power/better batteries and nicotine strength. The other 2% can be attributed to additives such as PGA and PG instead of VG. You just can't add something to e-liquid and magically get great TH, IMO.

Thanks again for all the replys. I pulled the trigger on the GLV2. I called Jay at Great Lakes Vapor, he was great to talk to. He answered all my questions and explained things well. He spent time talking to me, not in a rush, and he told me "when my GLV2 arrived to call him and he would help me get everthing set up". He was very helpful, but he wasn't trying to push his product on me. He gave me reconmendations for different ejuices and sources for it. I could not be happier about purchasing from this company. I do believe the GLV2 will perform as it is reported to. I'll give my review of it after I've recieved it and used it for a while.
