Of all the .50 cal casings I've seen on an image search they looked tapered...could be tough to get a 14500 to slide in and sit right but if you could I'd do a side x side...at the very least the end would make a cool switch surround...one-up the .45 mag
thinking of side by side with switch in one primer well and atty connector in the other then using two more shells as bottoms. I cut one up a while ago and a 14500 fits sloppy so maybe larger batt with the tapered portion of the shells gone I could fit something with more girth I know a 14650 will fit but whats a little fatter?
Yes, you are correct. For example:
14500 = 14mm wide X 50mm long
14650 = 14mm wide X 65mm long
18350 = 18mm wide X 35mm long
etc, etc
And keep in mind on those measurements that protected batteries are often a mm or two longer (and sometimes a tiny bit wider) than the numbering indicates
