My KFL v2 wicks best if I build 1.4 and higher due to the shallow juice channels and limited airflow.

Ive been told that the length of wire determines the ohm rating but I was also told it was the inner diameter and how many times your wrap it.

Both are true with a few qualifications.

1. For a given type and gauge of wire, the length of the wire determines the ohms.
2. From a practical standpoint it's easier to use a coil calculator to get an approximation. Plug in the type of wire, the gauge of the wire, the type of coils (i.e. single, dual, etc.), the ohm of the coil you want, the inner diameter and the length of the legs and it will give you an approximation of how many wraps you will need.

Here are a few links for you regarding building coils and getting the resistance just where you want it:
1. Steam Engine <=my favorite (it's more than a coil calculator)
2. Coil Toy Calculator

Make sure to check your build with an ohm reader or DMM before putting it on your mod and firing it.

Kayfun is old school, it's all about the Lemo's, sub tanks, and Atlantis tanks.

If it wasn't for the Kayfun, who knows what the Lemo would look like or the RDA portion of the Subtank since they're both pretty much identical to the Kayfun's. The Atlantis is...well...popular so I won't bash it for fear of hijacking this thread with flames. The Kayfun is a revolutionary piece of hardware and still looks much tighter and vapes much better than most RTAs out there.

The Kayfun is a great atomizer for people who prefer inhaling mouth-to-lung. With its restricted airflow and matching slow-flow juice channels the Kayfun is best built in the 0.8 - 2.4 ohm resistance range, for flavor my preference was ~1 ohm when coupled with a mechanical mod, 1.2 for a regulated device. 28ga wire is ideal for building coils in the 1 - 1.5 ohm resistance range, 30ga is better suited for higher ohm builds.

For people who prefer direct-lung inhales, the Kayfun would be a poor choice, the Lemo would be a better choice due to the increased airflow and larger juice channels.

This is what I hate about "vaping". Why do you have to come along and rain on this guys parade. A Kayfun isn't old school, a Kayfun is a fabulous piece of kit...and nothing, including time, will change that. I've been vaping for almost two years, and I've tried most everything, and spent a lot of money doing so. In the end, I rock four KFL+'s, and one Erlkonigin. My KFL+'s are work horses, that provide a great vape, and keep me off cigarettes. Three of them are over a year old, and not a single item has been replaced on them...nothing, not even an o ring. That's not old school, that's quality. As a member of this community, we should support each other, not snub our noses because we have a different opinion about something.

OP, I've found a 1.5ish ohm coil, 2.5mm diameter, 28 gauge, 9 wraps, angled on the build deck, wicked with rayon, with the tails of the wick trimmed down by at least three quarters of what's inside the coil to be the sweet spot. If you need any help, feel free to PM me.

I use 30 gauge, 7 or 8 wraps on 2 mm with rayon wicks. Comes in about 1.7 Ω. Don't care for sub Ω personally, prefer regulated to mechs, and most of those won't fire below about 1.2.

Yeah, my regulated tubes are all "old school" - but they still work very well to keep me a non-smoker. And, for me, that's what it's all about!

I've had bad luck with my Kayfun leaking from the M-Tank seals lately (threads are going), so when I think of ohm for it it's more of a meditative sound I make to appease the leaky gods.

Say it with me - Ooohhhmmmm. :)

On a serious note, I really like my KFL+ v2 when it doesn't leak, so I have a couple new M-Tank clearos ordered to clear up that problem. The coil build I'm currently using on it is @ 1.4, which is the sweet spot for me. I use a mech and RDA when I'm at home, but the Kayfun and Provari are my out and about setup.
