First of all, welcome to the site.

Well, I'm not sure what you mean by the aftertaste. Any juice I've tried leaves some aftertaste or other. As for the burnt taste, it's probably that your atomizer (whether a straight atomizer or the coil built into a cartomizer) isn't getting enough liquid, and is overheating and burning your wick and/or filler material (if using a carto).

I can't say what the best of anything is, as that varies from person to person, but I'll tell you what works for me. The tank type I like comes from Mom and Pop Vapor Shop; it's the basis for the tanks I build for myself.

In those tanks I use Boge 2.0 ohm stainless steel cartomizers which I punch two holes in using a tapping saddle & valve (the brass Watts one) from Home Depot .

Hope this helps.

EDIT: Fixed links.

Another EDIT: What are you using now that gives you the burnt & plasticky taste? That might help us diagnose what's wrong.

Don't know. I do not like atomizers. I use atomizers to test new juices and vape occasional juices. For everyday vaping on slim 510 I use Boge 510 3 ohm cartomizers with thin (80PG/20VG or less VG) clear-as-possible juices (dark/cloudy/opaque juices often clog cartos up fast with flavoring sediment). If make a Boge 1ml carto take 1ml of juice (about 20-28 drops). Then I clean it up. Then settle by laying on different sides and ends for 15-20 minutes (which is enough time with my thin juices). I use a plastic or delrin drip tip instead of the endcap so I can easily pull that to add liquid (with carto off battery) or to look at stuffing to see if it could use some juice. You have to keep them damp to prevent burning taste. And for slim 510 I recommend manuals batteries - almost impossible to damage/kill with juice leaks, easier to get a good hit, more control over your hit.

Most people use cartomizers for everyday vaping. One 450mah+ models like Ego, Kgo, Riva 510, mods people can use and generally prefer the hotter 2 ohm Boges. And those who want more liquid on a big battery use a cartomizer tank (for example the J-tank at electronicstix.com or the Babby Notta at Stormy's Celler.
