Looking for mod #2

As the title suggests, I'm considering mod #2. Not a backup, but as my main rig. Right now I've got the Kanger Nano, which is pretty good. It has VW up to 50, all the built-in protections, charging port, pass through & uses the 18650 battery. I like all of that except the 50w limit. It didn't really matter until yesterday.

Yesterday I went out & got me a Crown clearomizer because the Nano's 3 ml, bottom-fill was beginning to be a PIA. I really love the Crown. Exceptional fit & finish (I got the new Rose Gold). When I was in the store I tried one on the guy's 150w Segelei. Wow! I only took it to 90w for the juice I had (Blaq's Origins), but what a difference in the flavor & clouds with the low resistance coil. As my Kanger only goes up to 50w, I installed the .5 coil in the new unit & am enjoying it at 45 watts the last couple of days, but am wanting to go lower on the resistance at higher watts.

I've been looking at several- the sigelei 150w, the IPV4S, the Clouper T6 & the X Cube II as well as the new Kanger KBox 120 watt. The only one that has everything I want (like charging port & pass through) is the Kanger. I'm about this close to buying one.

My question is am I missing anything. I feel good about buying it, but wanted to get the experts' opinions first. TIA.

If you want great battery life and the option to go to 200w (most "200w" mods don't do actual 200w), the Reuleaux rx200. It can be had for around $45. Takes three 18650s, which must be married and always used together. Quite heavy, but actually quite small and very comfortable. There's a DNA 200 version, but it's around $150. Another option is the Joyetech Cuboid. A really small two-battery mod (again, the batteries must be married), but it weighs nearly as much as the Reuleaux. It's one of those "200w" mods that don't do 200w, but I'm guessing that 150w won't be a problem. I don't have mine yet, but I do have a 75w Evic vtc Mini that has the same board. Both the Cuboid and the Reuleaux are really flexible with both watt modes and temperature control with many different wires.

Single battery mods are only good for around 75w (even though some state otherwise) and eat through batteries fast so you'll want a two or three battery mod.

I don't know how much you know about batteries so I'll give recommendations on those as well. Get at least 20 amp batteries (for example LG hg2, LG he4, Samsung 25r, Samsung 30q, Sony vtc5), good for about 120w on a two-battery mod and 180w on a three-battery mod. If you want to go higher than that get 30 amp batteries. The only real options are the Sony vtc4, LG hb6, and LG hb4 . Check Mooch's posts in the battery subforum for tests and the most reliable information in batteries. Don't go for fancy "35-40" amp batteries by companies like Efest, Brillipower, Vapower, AWT etc. Those are rewrapped batteries by LG, Sony, Samsung etc, max 20 amps and often worse than the non-rewrapped ones, and terribly overpriced.

Thanks Ken. I will begin researching those, as I haven't seen them yet. I know I want 2 batteries- the Kanger requires them, but three, wow. TC is not important to me (at least at the moment), but I believe any high-end model I get will have it. Probably not a bad idea, though.

I'm satisfied with the batteries I'm currently alternating between the rig & the charger, which are both AWT 3.7v 3000 mah 35amp, so I was thinking they'll work in the newer setup?

Thanks again for the advice.

Tc is great, the only thing I use nowadays :) Stainless steel coils are great as they can be used in both tc and watt mode.

Your AWTs are probably ok for 20 amps, but they are not 35 amp batteries. I think @Mooch may have tested them. Check the batteries and chargers subforum.

Ive owned a few dual 18650 high wattage mods. Such as the IPV3 Li, Sig 150, Sig 150tc, Porject SubOhm Square Plus, Snow Wolf v1.5, Istick 100w, and the Xcube 2. Ive gotten rid of a few but plan on keeping the Sig 150tc. I don't care about TC so only supporting nickel doesnt bother me. I love the form factor and the chip. The battery % isnt always perfect but its a hell of a lot better than some little bar that I never know quite where it is. Efficiency of the chip is good as well. It has a few small cons but its my favorite of what ive had. The IPV3 Li worked well but it was just such a brick and not ergonomic. My Snow Wolf 1.5 works fine but annoys the life out of me, its next on the chopping block. Istick 100w was just rattle city with those buttons. XCube was just weird with the firing bar. They all had pros and cons but the Sig 150tc will stay with me.

I have an IPV3 li that was my go to do everything box but it had 2 cons. It was big and it absolutely tore through batteries. I was having to carry 2 extra sets with me to get through the day and this thing was absolutely not pocket friendly.

I picked up a Reuleaux RX200 and 3 LG 3000mah batteries. No looking back. It is much smaller and while not totally pocket friendly it is much more pocket friendly than the 3li. Battery life is amazing! I charge it every 2 days. It is also much more ergonomic in the hand. I like it enough that it is the only mod I have owned (and there have been plenty) that actually makes me want to go buy a second one just in case anything happens to the first. Pair it with the tank you have or a TFv4 and it will blow your mind, especially for the price. Don't overlook it.

Vapor DNA Project Sub Ohm Square Plus. I have one it's a 150w VW box that is accurate and fires down to .1 just got it and really like it. Battery life is great. At work my lg he2 batts last me all day. I'm using a billow v1 dual coil build at .44 but plan on getting the crown sooner or later.

Sent from the dust in front of you!

The Sigelei 150TC is a great mod. The drawbacks IMO are weight and price. I love the form factor and it is built like a tank.

I foolishly picked a Snow Wolf 200 over a 150TC a couple of months ago and still regret it. Snow Wolf is nice, but it is a beast.

Most recently, I relegated my Snow Wolf (and Kanger Subox) to the rainy day stockpile and primarily use two Reuleaux RX200's. Amazing mods, comfortable in the hand, batteries last forever, easy to use and CHEAP! No idea why this 200w mod is priced the same as most 30-40w mods out there. Only negative is that it is a bit heavy with 3 batteries and USB charging has been problematic on earlier models.

My suggestions as always, include the Evic VTC Mini, and the Kanger Subox Mini. Both fit your standards. I own both, and both are great mods that will last me a long, long time. I still own my original Evic. I trust Joye. I have trusted Kangertech for a few years now, since they ramped up their Quality Control Standards. BOTH are fantastic LITTLE 18650 devices. BOTH mods fit the hand perfectly. 1 has the best screen on the market IMO. 1 has a really nice blue OLED screen with BRIGHT white characters. The Subox contours to the hand perfectly. The Evic Mini LOOKS great, imho. ;) The SuboxMini hits 50-60w and the EvicMini hits 75. I get grreat batt-life from both of these mods, I really do. Both are stupendous. lol. Give em' a read.
