Hi all!

I have been vaping for about 14 months or so now and I have been quite happy with my ego that I got on New Years eve 2010. It has served me well and other than switching to low res attys and extended batteries I have stuck with the ego.

I have been considering getting a mod as I am looking for more throat hit. The ego has never really cut it and with how stressful work and whatnot has been I have been itching to smoke. I haven't caved since this is the longest I have ever gone without an analog, but I am hoping a new toy might help keep it off my mind. I switched to LR attys for the harder throat hit and I find that I tend to use menthol or fruit flavors as I find them to have better throat hit than a lot of the other stuff I have tried.

I was thinking of going with something variable voltage to try out. I would imagine a higher voltage e-cig would be a bit better for throat hit (right?) but I have no idea where to start. I don't want to spend anything too crazy on it and I would prefer it to be somewhere closer in size to the ego as it will be in my pocket. I would be alright going slightly over 100$ for something decent but I wouldn't do anything crazy like a Provari.

Really other than the Provari that is about all of the VV mods that I know of off hand. If anyone has any suggestions, I am all ears :)

Mad Vapes has some mad cheap vv box mods. just got mine, and it's the hotness.
Variable Voltage Box Mod

It's not quite the size of an ego, but if you're looking to replace a lighter and pack of smokes, this thing will do just fine. it's smaller than my spare pack of 100's, and fits nicely in any pocket.

Besides, at $35, I can afford to replace it if need comes to pass (after batteries and charger, I think it came to a total of about $60-65)

people seem to like these Infinity and if you get a blemished one it's $10 cheaper or you can get a lava tube but it's not small or a mini lava tube
VRVV Mod I don't know if it's the best price you may want to shop around I posted the link because they show it next to an ego battery it will give you a idea about the size

There are some good VV mods out there for under a 100. Box mods like SmokTek's VariCool Box Mod, MadVapes VV Box Mods that fit in you hand and are an inexpensive way to check out variable voltage. You could go with a 5 volt OMG mod that is just a little bigger than the eGo at V4L, it's not variable, but straight 5volts. Other tubes for under a 100 are the LavaTube at Volcanoecigs, but it a larger tube mod. The BuzzPro is a nice tube mod that is VV and smaller than the LavaTube, VaporMoon has a new Saber Mini that is now a VV Saber that would be great and it's is smaller. You can check out my YouTube Gallery at TheEcigStop's Channel - YouTube - I have reviewed some of these. I hate to say it, but I think the ProVari is the perfect size, and the Darwin is the top, IMO but both are expensive, but worth it.

My advice is go with the cheapest VV mod you can get. I've tried VV and found I like it occasionally, is not an everyday vape thing for me. As a result, wished I had not spend the $ I did. I think you can get a $35 box VV mod from madvapes. If you find you like it, then foot for the rolls Royce of VV mods, the provari.

Thanks for all of the links guys, I appreciate it.

I will have to check out some reviews and see what I think I should get.

On a related note, what I am going to be getting into as far as attys go? Currently, I only have LR attys which I know you don't want to use at higher volts. Should I pick up some of the standard 3.0 or 3.2 attys when I make my purchase?

I have some of my old 3.0-3.2's, some couple 2.0 Boge carto's, and some 1.5's; I've also tried my brother's io6. Out of all of them, I would say the io6 kicks serious dripping ..., and the 2.0's come in nicely at a wide voltage range: I can turn them down and choke them if I don't want much vapor, or I can turn them way up and make them burn my throat. I've also found that the 2.0's have a nice, wide sweet spot for me.

I totally agree with the other posts . . . I have been using an ego with dual coil cartos for awhile, and like you-it just wasn't getting it. So; at Christmas, I decided to buy a bottom feeder mod, but didn't want to spend a lot of money if I hated it.
I purchased mine at oldgoatmods for 30.00, and it has made my decision to put more money into another mod-either a wooden mod or a reo-ASAP!
The mod I got from oldgoat is awesome and I would recommend that you look at their site also!
Good luck!

Volcano ecigs just came out with a VV Mod called the LavaTube. my friend got one and he loves it, I like my Jazz Cartopipe but that would probably suffer the same fate as your eGo on TH... My daily vape is a Volcano Inferno (eGo Rebranded) and i like that and it is about the same as my CartoPipe

Lava Tube with a tank and carto. The LT sells for $70 at volcanoecigs.com They also sell the tanks and 3.0 single coil cartos (they are out of right now BOOOO!) and it's a great set-up. I know you don't like cartos, but a carto and tank together is nice.

Reo Mods is coming out with a vv soon. A bottom feeder Reo with an atty would work for you. You wet the atty with juice by squonking the bottle. :)

I second the Infinity. The Buzz is the same but has a different feel/look. You can use coupon code 'ecf buzzkill' to get a discount. I have the Infinity & its a high quality mod.

That being said, even though its not a variable voltage mod, the Reo is excellent. I myself don't really use the higher voltages that the Infinity allows as the taste is not as strong when I vape at higher voltages. The Reo is great.

You can check out the supplier forums that sell the mods you are interested in and see what others are saying or ask questions of other users.

Just scroll down to the suppliers section and pop in. Infinity or the Buzz is sold by Notcigs and for the Reo you can check in at Reosmods.
