A zmax mini is 3-3/4"Long x 7/8" in diameter.

I'm thinking to get shorter and fatter than a 650 spinner, going with a 18350 battery case would be a good way to go. Hopefully other people will have more suggestions because I'm not sure removable batteries is the way you are leaning at this point.

Hey. Take a look at something like the mini zmax. I was searching for 18350 battery cases that have variable voltage. It looks pretty cute. I believe it would be shorter and fatter than a 1300 spinner?

Thats actually pretty cute... might be an option... being that it has a removable battery would mean that the case would last longer because I could literally just replace the battery. Are there risks involved with these removable battery pv's? I ask because I honestly don't know. I'm not a total idiot when it comes to technology and could probably handle something more complex, I definitely want to have a good idea of what I'd be getting into though. My spinner is pretty straight forward, KWIM?

Oh, you mentioned in a pm that you wanted to be able to stick with the mini protank. I'm not sure if that will fit on a zmax. However, if you spring for a regular size protank, I'm quite sure those would fit, and they use the same coils as the mini.

The description of the zmax I found says this: "In addition, the ZMax Mini has a native eGo style connector that allows you to use both 510 and eGo style cartomizers, atomizers and tanks without adapters. The eGo style connector does not have outside threads but typical eGo style parts fit flush down into the recess that is around the ZMax Mini connector. 510 Tanks and other similar 510 items will screw in and be almost flush with the top." So a mini protank or evod might fit. Just not sure.

As long as you get good batteries and practice safe charging they are (IMO) just as safe or safer than an ego style. Most of the batteries we hear about explosions with are the smaller non-replaceable kinds. And people often are doing something dumb, like charging them in a hot car. For removable batteries you want to be sure you get a good charger, don't carry them around exposed in a pocket with metal things, don't stack batteries if you don't 100% know what you are doing (I can't imagine you'd be interested in stacking batteries right now), most people recommend not charging them overnight or if you do invest in a special charging bag (inexpensive).

I've been using removable batteries for 2 years now and never even had one go bad. That's just my personal experience though.

I'm not sure on the Smok zmax mini, but Sigelei version will take a mini protank just fine. I just screwed one on to double check. Course it doesn't come in fancy colors. ;)

I can't think of anything smaller than the zmax mini, that isn't an ego. The zmax mini is definitely taller than the 650 ego. I think by the time you get a 18350, and leave room for the control head and screen, it may not get much smaller. Anybody else got anything?

It would be shorter than a 1300 though, right?

Not exactly shorter, but the iTaste VV/VW 3.0 is a pretty good option if you're wanting to stay with a rechargeable without the need for an external battery. If you can handle a telescoping mod, the iTaste SVD is definitely fatter and you can grab an 18350 battery to shrink it down as far as it'll go.

I own both of the above mods and they work perfectly for me. Never had a single issue and both are eGO cone threaded.

Once you start wanting to branch out to something other than eGO style, Spinners etc, it's hard not to go with a mod that requires you to use a physical battery instead of one you just plug and charge.

Theoretically I could just go with another rainbow spinner at 650mAh and another MPT2. I dont really want to though. I'd like to try something different. I really like the zmax mini and will look into those more... Open to other ideas if anyone has any... Of course I'd just on a Provari Mini too, but thats a bit too rich for my blood right now.

Perhaps I should reiterate my original question... just a battery setup SHORTER than my 1300mAh Spinner, measures 4.4"

Have you thought about just going with the small spinners?
I use a spinner 400 for my out and about device.
Nice and small, but still puts out a good strong voltage.

You can look into something like a Nemesis clone + a Kick. Even when running an 18650 battery + Kick it would be shorter than your Spinner. (110mm vs 112mm)

Nemesis clone $30-$40 bucks.

Segeiei kick $20 or real Evolv Kick2 $45

It would be a longer lasting investment, as that Nemmy clone will last you quite awhile.

I have a Zmax mini. Love it, and the PT II mini does fit on it. :D

I know there are a lot of factors involved here but roughly how much life can you expect off of one 18350 charged battery?

The 18350 batteries are 800 mah. So you should get 8 hours out of one, but it depends on what kind of vaper you are. I have 6 18350 so I always have extra charged. Very easy to pop out one and put another in:vapor:
