Looking for Vapepen Recommendation

Hello! I am a newly registered member here but have been lurking since September 2013. I have registered to ask for some opinions as I've tried to search for answers but they vary so greatly.

I started with the Blue ecig, switched to V2 and then found vapepens. I started on a very basic Kanger and eventually switched to Halo Cig's Triton halocigs.com/vaporizer/triton-starter-kits.html which is what I currently use. It works fine and I enjoy vaping with a Triton, but I'd like to try something new with these points in mind:

1. A vapepen with a better tank setup. The Triton wicks/coils halocigs.com/replacement-coil.html get gummy and after one refill I have to throw out about a quarter of the juice remaining in the tank. Since I seem to enjoy only the most expensive juices (my favorites are OB by Suicide Bunny, Andromeda by Space Jam and Peachy Strawberry by Jimmy the Juice Man) this is such a waste.
2. A vapepen that doesn't need as many replacements. I'm constantly buying new wicks/coils and I'm on my fourth battery charger. If the wick is even a little burned, I throw it out. I enjoy a fresh wick the most so I don't feel like I'm getting the most for my money when I reuse a wick. I did buy some wick material from eBay to thread my own, but I don't like the taste as much and it's a pain in the ....
3. Start up price isn't a great concern. I'll gladly pay top dollar to save on juice and wicks/tanks/etc. in the long run.

I'd love a few recommendations from the more experienced Vapors! Thank you!

Consider the iStick 30watt (battery) with a mini Nautilus (tank).

the iStick isn't much bigger than a bic lighter but has a 2200mah battery and you can adjust your wattage/voltage. It can be vaped while charging. Although you may not need all 30 watts (in the beginning) it gives you some room should you ever want to try some of the "sub-ohm" tanks that have been rolling out in the past 3 months.

The mini Nautilus holds 2mls of juice. The full size Nautilus would also work (5ml tank). Both of these have adjustable airflow (for a tight or looser draw) and the glass tank allows you to use "tank cracking" juices.

Something Safe for Cinnamon and Citrus Flavors

There are lots of reviews on these two products out on youtube. Here is a demonstration of the vapor you can get from a mini Nautilus (airflow wide open).

Thanks so much Susan! My husband and I just watched a few videos and this looks like a good setup for us. I really like the fact that the Nautilus doesn't have a wick, which is my biggest complaint with my Triton setup.

I'm going to shop for a good price and try it out! I'll be sure to post my results.

Yes, buy replacement coils. No, you should not need anything else (except for juice). Just make sure you buy the BVC's (bottom vertical coils) for the Nautilus (or mini Nautilus). They both use the same coil.

That looks like them in your picture.

You may need to lower your nic level as you will be vaporizing more juice as compared to your previous setup. You won't really know until you try it out.

** ADDITIONAL NOTE **

Before you use the coils you need to prime them well. Put 5-10 drops of juice directly into the coil and let it soak into the wicking material before you assemble the tank. Better to put in too many than too few. Once the tank is on the battery cover the airflow hole and take a few "primmer draws" without pressing the button. This will ensure the coil is fully saturated.

Turn the wattage (or voltage) down and take a hit or two. Slowly raise it up as you continue to vape. That should ensure you don't get any "dry hits".

My iStick with Nautilus tank came today! (photos attached)

Can someone help with decide what voltage/wattage setting to use? Right now it is 1.9Ʊ, 5.7W and 3.3V. I'm used to the Halo Triton so I'd guess something similar would be my best guess?

I use mine at about 3.7 volts. The iStick is more powerful than it says.

You know you can attach the tank direct to the iStick? You can unscrew the eGo adapter completely.

Ha, thanks for the tip! Unscrewed! Now I'm off to find some plastic drip tips. I can't stand that metal in my mouth!

Everything was going great, but I have now run into the problem of not being able to get the top piece of my tank unscrewed to refill and clean. The first time I was able to get my husband to open it, but it took effort. Now he is at work and I can't get it open again. I did find some tips after searching the forum, but none of them have worked for me yet. I am going to have to go out and buy some pliers. The pliers we have at our house are too big to work on the small tank.

Just thought I would mention this in case others were looking to buy the Aspire Mini tank. Great product, but getting it apart has become a hassle.

BTW, I am 46 years old and do not have arthritis or any other ailment that would normally impede with unscrewing something. I'm not a wimp!

I wanted to update this thread with the fact that the istick was just too powerful for me. I messed and messed with the settings and was never happy with how the juice tasted. On a whim I bought a basic 501 battery to try with the Nautilus and so far, I am liking that much better!

In case anyone uses this thread to decide on a new purchase, there you go. I'm a happy vaper once again.

That's good you got fixed up. Unfortunately, the choice of resistance in the Nautilus in limited. If the iStick is a bit crazy (I agree!) then try it in the future with a 2.5ohm or even 3.0ohm coil. A 3.0ohm coil in something like a carto-tank would be much more gentle i.m.o.

I have a Nautilus Mini and love it. It has only gotten stuck once, and I successfully broke the vacuum by simple blowing into the tip. No pliers required. Another tank of mine did the same thing, and I found that pressing on the center pin of the coil after unscrewing the tank from the battery did the trick.

Hey, Gertie. If your Mini Nautilus gets stuck when taking it apart, try using a rubber glove or a rubber band and wrap it around the base. Untwist the base and the top (not the glass but above it) at the same time and it should come loose nice and easy. Just be careful not to get eliquid on everything and make sure not to over-tighten when putting it back together. It also helps to put a little eliquid around the base o-ring for lubrication. I hope this helps.

I know... it's a "not good" discovery. If it's too strong with the iStick, how do you find it with a more basic battery?

I'm keen to help and can try things this end if it helps. I have a huge box of stuff.
