Hey, So I have had my Triton for something like 2 weeks now...I have 3 tanks total and one mini tank, and I've cleaned the same tank twice just due to switching out liquids, or the wick becoming black/burnt at the coils and wanting to remove that flavor.

I've had success just pulling the wicks, giving them a good isopropyl alcohol patting, then rinse with water and set to dry for 12 hours, along with the same process to the tank and tip. No complaints on that. I managed to thread the wick through the coil both times as well by switching which wick was in the coil.

I have however, lost a few strands of the wick, and seeing how the coil is maintained, I would like to forgo buying a full coil head as replacement. I'm wondering if there's any options, preferably local (Texas) for just getting wicks. I'll buy some replacement heads at some point soon to have them siting around, but I would like to have the wicks since they should be the most inexpensive thing to not have to worry about fooling with.

Thanks guys!

So I bought some 32g Kanthal as well as some 2mm silica and 2mm (2 + or - .3mm) ekowool with cotton center. The Ekowool is quite a bit bigger than the silica. In any case, I made my own coil around both a 2mm screwdriver and a 1.4mm screwdriver (the ekowool fits in the 2, the silica easily fits into the 1.4)

I have tried 5 coils, I have tried 6 coils. I have a 6 coil ekowool in one, and a 5 or 6 coil silica on another, but with the silica I can easily detect burnt flavors, and with the ekowool it takes forever to get any vapor from it.

Should I be making sure my coil is compressed? I feel like the stock ones weren't fully compressed, and when I made mine I torched it after making it, but not compressed, so the coils are nicely symmetrically spaced apart.

When I used 5 turns on the 2mm diameter coils with eko wool, it made the ekowool black and tasted burnt. I can't really tell what I'm doing wrong.

Rewicking with Peaches and Cream cotton yarn is really easy and works great. The yarn is dirt cheap too. 100 feet for less than $2. Can be found at Walmart.

As for the full coil I'll give you some advice here.

Halo Triton coils are exactly the same thing as Kanger T2 coils. You can save a LOT of money by buying the Kanger coils instead of buying them from Halo.

Well...I already got the 32g kanthal and i'm trying to make my own coils since I have a ton of that. It's not that hard, I can easily make and install the coil. I just can't tell if I'm doing something wrong as far as the wicks or the coil. I just made a 2mm diameter 5 wrap coil (pressed into a mini-coil I guess...all coils touching), and I detect a burnt flavor. With 2mm 6 wraps (although non compressed into a mini coil) it wasn't generating enough heat to get anything without doing a full 10 second or whatever the cut off is draw

That example is with Ekowool cotton center. I boiled it for 5 minutes and let dry. I also have 2mm silica which I have both tried torching and not torching before using. I really can't figure out why there is such a difference between 5 and 6 wrap coils, if I'm supposed to compress the coil, or anything like that...Maybe the 6 wrap coil will produce more heat as a mini coil than a spread coil, and less heat than any 5 coil. I don't know :S
