I just wanted to thank the members of this forum for all the wonderful information I have found. This forum has proven invaluable in helping me get started down the road of vaping.

I'm sure everyone has different reasons for switching from analogs to eCigs. Some may want to save money, some are just sick of the analog smell, some for health reasons... The list could go on and on.

I'm making the switch for the latter two reasons. I did some math and quickly found that vaping isn't going to save me money, at least not in terms of maintaining my nicotine habit. I've been an avid DIY smokes guy for a few years and found it would save me a lot of money vs buying cartons or packs of smokes. This was even before the latest round of tax hikes. The state of Utah decided to raise taxes on tobacco when the current President also increased taxes. Interestingly enough, the tax didn't seem to affect the price of pipe tobacco as much as it did cigarette tobacco. An employee at the smoke shop I frequent suggested I make the switch from Gambler brand (~$45 per lb) to 4 Aces (same company ~$28 per lb). Add 3 boxes of tubes @2.50 each and I was spending roughly $1 per day on smokes (~15 per day). Cost of hardware to stuff the tubes was less than $5, negligible, and I never needed to replace it.

I placed my order at liberty-flights.com for their Mega T-Rex kit, along with some different attys and some cartos, vikingvapor.com and gourmetvapor.com (go Utah companies!) for a collection of juices to try. Obviously the upfront costs for vaping are higher and since I haven't started yet, I'm not sure how much juice I will be using on a daily basis. If I can eventually get it close to my current $1 per day, I'll be ecstatic.

However, there are a lot more costs involved with smoking. Before I started smoking I had damn near perfect teeth. No cavities, no problems... Not so much anymore. My last two routine checkups resulted in numerous follow-ups to fill no less than 25 cavities. I drink soda, so it can't all be attributed to smoking, but then again, I've pretty much have always been drinking soda.

Anyway, long story short... I'm looking forward to my orders finally arriving. Just got my shipping notifications today!

Welcome to the the forum. As a DIY guy you'll find that making the juice yourself will save you a great deal of money and you'll probably be able to get close to that $1 a day not to mention the other health costs you'd be saving like doctor visits or god forbid surgery. The initial cost is a lot to swallow up front and if you dont get carried away with "gotta have it" mods it will pay off pretty quick.

You would probably save more health wise then. But be warned, once you start vaping, you may end up switching over completely cuz the regular tobacco would tastes so bad. And yeah since you a diy kinda person, you'd probably learn to diy juices and that would save you more money. I think in liquid it cost me a dollar a day. only thing I replace is attys. That is about 20 a month. I guessing at most is 2 bucks a day. Better than my 9 dollar a day addiction I used to have.
