Looking to buy a vv -- any suggestions appreciated.

I have several vaping devices because I have an addiction to small, electronic gadgets. I bought a Provari and it was the biggest disappointment of any of the devices I have bought. It does what it is suppose to do, but the display seems so outdated and for the price it just doesn't have the dazzle that some of my other ones do. I know a lot of people love the Provari and that's wonderful if you do. I started out with a Vamo V3 from Fasttech and I had great luck with it. I bought a SID but found it to be too light weight and just didn't seem to have the power, even though its vv / vw too. For me, and I know this might not be the most popular, I love my iTaste VTR. Yes it's heavy and yes the adapter is stupid, but with a protank or iClear 30 s, I have had the most satisfaction. I love my VTR and I'm a 62 year old grandma.

I'm also headed for an upgrade. I have done tons of research and watched about every review for cheap vv devices on youTube. If you want a box mod, larger vv device, the Innoken MVP2 looks to be the choice. MVP2 reads ohms, variable voltage and wattage but you have to manually adjust both it wont adjust the voltage for you when you set the wattage or visa versa, probably leading to more burnt/dry hits, MVP2 will charge usb devices, seems to require an adapter ring for larger tanks or atomizers and that makes it look a bit goofy.
Because of the greater amount of features and better I have decided to go with the Siegeli zmax V5. Tons of features, variable voltage mode, variable wattage mode, adjusts for you, accepts all battery types so you can make it smaller rather than some of the monster 18650 tubes out there, will charge usb devices, and reads ohms so you can build your own replacement coils for any kanger tank.

Vamo is an ok device.. Seen allot of problems with vamo on the forums like the threads being garbage, or that it just breaks for some reason after a short while.. Thats one of the reasons why I didn't grab one, and Im glad I didn't! My SVD is my favorite PV ever since i've had it.
I don't for $50 with Intellicharger i2, 2 sony batteries, vamo v3...it wasn't a horrible investment for me. https://www.fasttech.com/products/1380305 Dropped mine a month ago and 510 threading got screwed up so could only use ego style tank. I eventually took needle nose plyers and squeezed all around the 510 threading rotating about 30 degrees at a time. That fixed my threading issue. Chrome is becoming a bit warn.

All in all I say it was pretty good deal even if it only lasts me another 6 months. I started with vv but really like vw. One of the other box mods is a reasonable price that also has vv...MVP? Charger even works for my very small 18350 batteries for gripper. So by know means was it waste and it does it's job.

I would not go with an Ego twist. It's good if you're just starting out/dipping toe into VV, and your budget is super tight
Someone else already said but you can find those super cheap on FT. 10-12$ If you just want to see if VV is your thing or not it would hurt just to have it especially so you got backup if current one goes dead. I actually started with a VV passthrough just to see if it was worth my time/money to upgrade further. Also thinking about getting 1-2 those as all my VV devices are kind of big...those you can sneak around with a bit more with. Not so much a vamo or provaria with an 18650 battery in it.

Well if you are looking for just raw power that will deliver a great vape up to around 20 watts and has long staying power at that level, and will drive an atomizer of .5-3 ohms then the Beast Box VV may just fit the bill. Uses to 26500 batteries, for a total of 6000 mha's of use, no bells or whistles, dial in to taste, can bet the Beast with 4 batteries and the charger for $119.

I've been looking for something like that but also combines the usb in port to charge batteries inside the box and also a usb out to charge external device and has both vv/vw

I want the best of all worlds. I think I posted asking for something like that about a month or two ago but couldn't find one that combined everything into an all in one. MVP almost has it if I could replace the batteries.

Would you like another? It's broken, so you're welcome to it.

Personally, I'll never touch another SVD and I'll never recommend them to anyone else. After having taken mine apart and had a good look at how they're put together, I consider them dangerous.

Edit:

Here are some pictures showing what I don't like about the design.

First, the SVD body.

As you can see, the top is a little chewed up. I figured since it was broken I couldn't make it worse, so I tried using vice grips to get the top off, but no good, Just chewed up the metal.

Next, I used a really long, skinny pair of pliers to pull out the plastic cap that the battery connection is mounted in.

Gently pull that cap straight up until it comes out of the tube.

With the cap removed you can see a major problem. The wire isn't a single piece, it's two wires spliced together. In this picture you can see the tape from my previous repair. The way it comes from Innokin those wires are simply twisted together, NOT soldered, and held in place by a 3mm wide strip of tape.

With the way Innokin assembled it, any sudden shock or hard shaking could cause the two wires to disconnect from each other.

I don't like the fact that the wires aren't soldered together, and I'll bet the same applies to the internal wiring as well. Also, because that plastic piece is in the way in the center of the tube you cannot get to the fire button to fix or replace it should it break. What it means is that if there is a failure then it's almost impossible to fix it.

But the biggest problem is the safety of the thing. If the positive battery wire separates from impact or just because the tape got old and no longer held the wires together then it could touch the body, creating a short. If that happened it could potentially cause the battery to heat up enough to start burning. It's dangerous IMO.

Snipped pictures for length

What??? twisted together? no solder anywhere? not even a cold solder joint?? Im half way tempted to open mine up just to find out!!
jeeze... and I thought the SVD was a decient mod.... now Im dissapointed.......

Maybe...... Completely average didn't get employee of the month that put his SVD together. I can only hope I did, time will tell.

So far I have no complaints with the device, but it's pretty fresh out of the box. If I have any issues I'll start a thread.

I hate to say this, but this place is getting to me. I think I'm getting the Fear.

I have been using ecigs off & on for the past several years (Blu, kr808, eco-T with B tank, evod and several disposables). None of these had everything I was looking for:

easy of use -- don't want to fuss around with it too much
no leaks
more options to control vape -- want to be able to dial-in the best throat hit and taste
not interested in building or rebuilding parts for the unit
cost is really not a factor -- willing to pay whatever it takes to quit analogs for good

My favorite so far is the evod with a kanger mini protank -- no leaks, works great, just change an atomizer every now & then, can use my ego batteries, and minimal investment. My only problem with it -- after a few hits, the vapor starts having a burnt flavor. Ejuice that I have loved in other devices doesn't taste nearly as good in the evod. So that led to disappointment, and back to analogs I went.

I'm open to any and all suggestions. Thanks in advice for any help you can give me; it's truly appreciated!

(Please let me know if there is a more appropriate place for this type of thread).

Get VW control and set it to 5 watts.
The best battery out there is the MVP, and it has VW control.
If you don't like the box shape and size you could get the vv3 instead which more resembles you current battery in width and length.

Once you're happy with that you might want to get a VTR , or EVIC
or else something like a vamo or zmax or svd or sid
All of which have VW control.

The EVIC can charge the replaceable battery inside it and you can vape while charging.
It's the only one I've seen that does that.

Sorry to hear you got a bad one out of the bunch! I'll gladly Take it off your hands:lol:

I haven't had a problem with mine but if I do at least I'll have the parts to fix it haha

He DID stated it above, so don't shoot me. :p
ProVari + Nautilus would give you very reliable, easy, and consistent vape.

There are other options. Cartomizer tank is pretty solid too. With a good quality carto, it can last much longer than bottom coil atomizer head like ProTank. Top coil clearomizer such as iClear 30S is a good option too.

I just ordered a Reo mod which might a good option for you too. (you can use pre-made 510 atomizer head). I ordered it for my brother who has similar requirements. I can let you know how it worked out in few days. :)

well then try this one, lol:

This is new to the market so there are limited reviews but it takes an 18650 batt, but it's rechargeable through a usb mini port. It's VV and VW and has the standard ohms checker.... The device itself appears pretty darn tough. In the video they soak it down in a car wash and then run it over with a BMW and it never misses a beat. here is the link E-LVT – GREY – BATTERY INCLUDED

Dang, that's a kewl looking box mod, to bad it is so under powered. lamo. I can't drive no 15 watts no more. lol But still a rock solid looking device. Like the blue one!!

ELVT-2.jpg

This just in…The E-LVT. Don’t ask what the “LVT” stands for. When we find out, we will let you know. What we do know is this is one cool mod! Cast zinc construction with a silicon covering – this provides protection from drops. 510 with ego threading It can be charged with usb onboard charger Has output capability – you can charge your cell phone, MP3 etc with this device Ohms checker Variable voltage – 3 – 6 volts, adjustable in .1 increments Variable Wattage – 3 – 15 watts, adjustable in .5 increments Uses an 18650 battery Ok, so about now you are thinking this is kinda like the Innokin MVP v2, and you would be correct EXCEPT… WATER RESISTANT – IPS1X specifications AND… …a flashlight!
