Since you asked for specific recommendations.... here goes. Provari is dubbed "the last mod you'll ever need". For good reason. It is the top end. There are other top end priced mods but the Provari is time tested, tried and true. You can get a Provari Mini for around 160.
A silver Provari V2 for around 180 (with extension cap) and the colored ones are even more.
Another thing I like about Provari is that it's all American Made, and their customer service is second to none.
I went the "buy a middle of the road priced Mod" route for my first mod bigger than a cigalike. It broke after 1.5 months. Then I had to argue and threaten via e-mails for 3 weeks to get them to replace it. Supposed to be a 1 year warrenty well the warrenty wasn't worth the paper it was written on when I have to fight for weeks to get it honored.
But seriously. Watch some Youtube video reviews of a few of the mods recommended. Narrow it down to 2 or 3. Then watch every video you can find on those 2 or 3. Read forum reviews of the 2 or three and take everything with a grain of salt until you get a majority of people agreeing that one or the other is better and why. P Busuardo does great reviews as well as Grimm Green just to name a few of them.

Thanks for all the advise.. i have owned a few vv mods.. i have the chrome lava tube and now i have the lava tube V2 from volcano e cigs. i know all about the provari . my only concern with getting that is i am gonna be using my next mod at work alot,,, i work on a construction site full time.. I cant see my self bringing a beautiful mod like that on a dirty job site where i will probably drop it lol .. The provari is on my list of mods in the future just not one i am planning on taking to work with me.. I also do follow all of grim green and PBusuardo Vids. They know alot and really care about the vaping community, Love there vids .. Thanks for your advise i will be getting my self a provari soon .. I am open to any other suggestions you might have..

It's built like a tank and it's built to be used... don't buy a mod to pamper, unless you want a collector's item made of Gold and Berylium!!! haha. Seriously, if you know it's going to get bashed, then buy the most durable mod you can find and then don't worry about it... the dings add character :D

Well for a mechanical I would suggest a Caravela but I won't...be way too mean.

Natural - Got one today and I am pretty impressed with it. great fit and finish, very smooth threads, can use different batteries. I am using it in 18350 mode and it is a nice stealth sized package.

Siam Cube - these show up in the classies fairly often and are a great mechanical mod. I have one in 18350 and it is great. Easy lock unlock bottom button mod.

Chameleon - another to watch for on the classies. top ring firing, simple locking system, stealth sized but uses a 18650 battery.

REO - nice flat box bottom feeder, these work very well once you learn the short learning curve.

Strangely of all my new toys, the one I can pocket easily is my favorite.
