I've been lurking on the forums for a few days and have found a TON of helpful information. Almost to the point of being overwhelming. After lots of reading and watching quite a few youtube videos I have somewhat narrowed down what I'm looking for. I'd like to buy a PV that is just the two piece cartomizer and battery. The 510 seems to get decent reviews but I believe I've seen more than one brand of 510, and I don't think some of them were just the two piece, so I'm not certain which one to buy? Can anyone provide a link to the best model with the best price currently available? Another thing that I'd like to have is a drip tip. I've seen these in the youtube videos. Is this something that is standard on 510's or would I have to buy a different tip in order to fill the cartomizer through the tip? Thanks to all you guys and girls who have posted so much helpful info on here. I'm looking forward to getting started.

Josh........Best advice: if you are using e-cigs to substitute smoking would be to invest in a variable voltage mod. A 510 battery is 3.7volts and may not supply the "Kick" that is needed for you to "Kick the habit". A VV mod will give you the flexability of increasing the voltage for a better hit. the rechargable batteries used will also provide longer life than the typical 510 battery.

There are tons of links and reviews of such mods here in the forum. Spend a little more now and you will be spending less in the long run.......if that makes sense!

Good luck!
:)Wiz!

This might be a good starter for you: Electronic Cigarette - Starter Kits - Riva 510 Click on the banner at the top of the home page for a discount before shopping.

Also, any 510 drip tip will fit a 510 Cartomizer. Usually cartomizers come with a plastic tip, but you will probably like a drip tip better for the feel.

Thanks for all the great advice. I'm considering the Riva 510. As far as the ejoye 510's 2 hour battery life, is that 2 hours of constant vaping or is that 2 hours regardless of whether I am vaping or not. I smoked for about 9 years and recently switched to chewing tobacco. My current habit consists of a quick dip in the morning before work, perhaps tossing one in for a few minutes during a bathroom break at work, and then I go home for lunch and leave one in for about an hour. Given my particular habits, and if I wish to continue getting nicotine roughly on that schedule, would the 2 hour battery life work for me? My one attraction to the ejoye 510 is the small size. I typically wear jeans that a fairly tight so anything large would have trouble fitting in my pocket. I'd like to be able to discretely carry whatever I decide to buy. I don't plan on getting a fanny pack anytime soon. Another question is regarding just how much nicotine is delivered. When I smoked I'd typically go out and have two cigarettes on a 15 minute break and then I'd be good for 2-3 hours. If I was to vape for the equivalent amount of time that I smoked can I expect to get the same fix I did from cigarettes? What are some pros and cons of cartomizers vs. atomizer/cartridges? Is one cheaper or more reliable than the other? Final question, everyone seems to be in agreement that I should for something better than the ejoye 510 with the short battery life. Are there many people who have been satisfied with that particular model? Does it produce any throat hit? Thanks for all the help. You guys rock!

If you're looking for a slim cigarette-type PV these kits are priced great and made by the company that caused a sales rampage with the Smoktech dual coil cartos. I've had two friends so far start with these kits and should have another in the mail today. You can choose auto or manual batteries and for a $4 upcharge you can get the longer-lasting batteries. Kit comes with cartos so the savings are significant. Just add juice :)

ego 100

If you're considering a 'FatBatt' model like the Riva/Ego check out the Kgo on that site also. After getting over the "I need it to look like a real cig" stage (I did that, too) the Kgo is the best FatBatt out there for voltage and long-lasting battery.

Two hours of vaping time on a small 510 is not constant vaping. It's a small battery. You would need to buy a lot of batteries.

Wiz gave you some good advice. But if you are not ready to go variable volt, then definitely get one like the Riva that lasts about 5 hours on a charge. A MUCH better alternative to the ego/Riva 510 is the E-Power. As good or better performance BUT with batteries that last longer and only cost $4 instead of $20. And you can use cartomizers with it so it is the same as a two piece PV:

Agree with this chap. Though I'd go for the titanium now, unless you don't mind chipping black paint..

If the largish size is off putting, then an eGo should be your port of call. The e-power 18650 will last you days before charge become an issue. I like to stick an array tank mod (5mls of liquid and CE2 XL innards) for all day (and the next and halfway through the next too!) vaping with no hassle. It also fits your 2-piece requirements.

I agree with all the riva suggestions. Its not that much bigger than a cig sized device anyway. The pictures make it seem larger, I was surprised when I first got mine. The performance is a huge step up as well.

The Riva works fine but I can't see the sense in paying $20 for inferior batteries when you can get better batteries for $4.

Rob at smoktek.com has some kewl stuff at good prices (CHEAP variable voltage box mod), he even has a coupon code for ecf members which is ECF5 for 5% off. If ya want a reliable mod visit Rick at vaporalley.com (formerly atmosusa.biz), the q2v3 copper is an awesome mod. And also people (myself included) are really enjoying the liquinator tank from vaporescence.com! Happy Vaping!!!
