Hello everyone. I'm looking to make an Alabama Slammer flavor. For those that don't know this drink it has Orange juice, Southern Comfort, Sloe Gin and Grenadine.

I'm looking to recreate the Southern Comfort and Sloe Gin flavors really. SC is made from peaches and tastes like it also but needs a hint of oak flavor. I was thinking of mixing peach and bourbon to get this. The sloe berry is much like a plum so I've heard but have never seen or tasted on its own. Grenadine is just a cherry type flavor.

If anyone here has some experience with some of these flavors can you let me know where you got them from as I would like to avoid the oil based flavors.

Thanks.

Hmm, interesting. Most of these flavors, like peach, plum, etc, are available from Capellas or Loranns. Do you have these liquors, and can look at the proofs of them. If they don't have sugar, and they probably do, but you could possibly do this:

Make a flavoring of pure flavors in the a similar relative mixing that the drink would have with the liquors. In other words, you are making an Alabama Slammer flavoring-only mix. Maybe its 33% plum, 33% cherry, 33% peach. Test the flavor itself by putting a few drops into water and tasting it. Lets call this "AS flavor"

Make the e-juice a VG juice. You will need to thin it, of course. Many people use PGA to thin it. You will make an Alabama Slammer without water or ice, just liquor. Lets call this "AS alcohol".

Make the juice with VG and VG-nic juice, with 20% AS flavor, and 10% AS liquor.

Might get hard on the attys if there is sugar in the AS liquor, but as long as you don't push it too long you can dedicate an atty for it and wash it with hot water more often than usual.

This might actually work, and also give the alcohol flavor bloom.

Whataya think? :)

Interesting idea for a mix! I like the above idea, but I game up drinking alcohol, and all my liquor became x-mas presents this year LOL. I think the hardest part of the "Alabama Slammer" would be to get the orange juice flavor. Lorann's orange flavoring is oil-based, and oil is not recommended for use in atomizers. I have successfully made a few orange mixes using the lorann orange oil, but only using about 1 drop per 5ml,

Thanks for the advice. I'm going to try and find a non oil based orange flavor. The sloe gin isn't necessary but is a nice addition. It may take a while to get the mixture right but when I do I'll have to give the recipe away so others can make it. If the vapor tastes like the drink it will be a bit hit.

As for the drink its self here are the ingredients straight from the SoCo website:

1 oz Southern Comfort
1/2 oz Sloe gin
1/2 oz Amaretto
1 1/2 oz Orange juice

Up here its a little different. Most bars don't add the sloe gin and sub in grenadine and add another 1/2 oz of SoCo. When I was trying to find sloe gin in the liquor stores it was really expensive. Close to $50.00 for 750ml so I understand why. It is a great drink.
