I have been trying to build microcoils, but haven't had much luck with the old Bic lighter; not too safe.

What type of butane torch should I look to obtain? I've seen differnet styles, and some are the cigarette lighter style. Will these even work for heating the microcoils?

I'm thinking something like this.... torch.jpg ...should I be concerned with a plastic model getting too hot?

I don't understand why you need a torch for micro coils...

I just heat up my coils by attaching them to the atty and firing my device. I then use pliers to smoosh it together after.

I suppose the torch could be handy, but it is not a necessity.

It definitely makes vertical coils easier to work with.

Not essential, but definitely handy.
