Well i am wanting to upgrade from my ego to something with more kick.Even with 2.0ohm cartomizers i find it to be somewhat lacking unless i use a very high pg /nic content juice. But i was curious what to do should i go for a True 3.7v PV ,5v or VV.Still undecided but what i do know is that i would prefer it to be tube shaped and with batteries and charger to be under or around the 100 mark.So what would be some good options to look at .

The eGo has been metered underload at 3.2 and 3.4v at 3.4 with the 2.0ohm cartos you're vaping at @5.8Watts. If you get a true 3.7 Special Edition Riva - with the 2Ω boge cartos you'll be @6.8Watts. If you like dripping... with the cisco 306lr atty you can get to 7.7Watts on the eGo and 9.12Watts with the SE Riva.

Going to a 5 volt - you can get 10 watts with a 2.5ohm atty/carto but you're liable to knock out some flavor at that point and burning cartos is also a problem, I think, above 8.5Watts so using 2.8Ω and above is better for flavor and attys/carto life.

6 volts - you need to be around 3.5Ω and above to keep from killing flavor and attys.

I'd pick up an SE Riva at liberty flights and try it out. If you don't like it you can sell it at 90% of your cost on classifieds - perhap even up if you carry the shipping.

Above that - figure whether you want to stick with the tube type mods or go to box type and a variable voltage mod in either style might be in order. I have a Big Brother vv box mod that I vape at over 6 volts with a 4.2 joye atty @ 10W for dripping my coffee ejuice.

Next strp up would be any of the non proprietary battery mods. something that takes a 14500 or 16340. Those would be a true 3.7v and you could run a 1.5 lr atty on them(which I would reccomend a cisco 1.5 306). If youre going to be using LR on these size batts, I would suggest using a AW IMR battery. For the 14500 sizes, the BB by altsmoke and the Puresmoker Icon are popular. In the 16340 size, I'd have to give the nod to the super t precise, but thats way over your 100 budget. Yould could probably snag a GLV in the classifieds with some batts for under a 100 though.

Good info guys keep it coming i really appreciate it .Also i did not know the Special edition Rivas was true 3.7,Is their somewhere that sells the special edition Riva battery besides Liberty Flights as i always had a hard time getting it to take my Credit card.I may try those special edition batteris as they are cheap and would be worth it to try a True 3.7 to better judge perhaps

I was about to make my first vaping purchase ever a couple weeks ago with LF and they would not take my CC. Called my bank they saw the issue and fixed it.

Why not just go to the mod that encompuses them all? The Buzz from notcig. It is the original variable vapor mod that will let you bring out the best in every carto/atty or juice you have. I've been using one over a yr. and it has not only replaced all my other mods but has never failed to fire on the first push of the button. I wouldn't be caught without it. Oh an notcig customer service is second to none.

The VV mods are good but IMO a little hardcore.

For something simple and rock solid, I would suggest a GLV2 ( un-resisted ), an AW 14670 battery, and a dual coil cartomizer.
The GLV2 has a lifetime warranty with awesome CS and is available in many colors with custom engraving available.

If you want to go cheap, to test the waters so to speak, I would go with a 3.7V box mod ( Madvapes and many others ),
and the dual coil cartos.

Any tube mod with a good switch that will accept an 18650 will broaden your voltage choices. Most 18650 tubes will let you run an 18650 for 3.7v, two 3.0v 16340s for 6.0v, two 3.7v 16340s for 7.4v, or an electronicstix 5.0v NIMH battery for 5.0v vaping.

I have a maxi rough stack and have used all of the above batteries in it. The only ones I completely quit using are the 3.7v 16340s because 7.4v vaping is just not for me. There are many, many other tube mods that will handle those batteries. The silver bullet mentioned by XDoctor above is a nice one.

Agreed on that. By the time you buy batteries and a charger you're looking at $127 plus some shipping. It's not one step above an Ego, it is many. My GLV2, and all my other devices, have not come out of the drawer since I got a Buzz.

Although you'd never sell it, the resell value on The Buzz is high.

The Silver Bullet was my first step up from the ego. They work great and are well priced. Since then I switched to a precise 16340 for the small size, mechanical button, lifetime warranty, all stainless steel... the list goes on with that one and you get what you pay for. The SB felt a little awkward in public due to it size but for some that's not an issue. Its a tank with flexible battery options and it looks good doing it. I thought the GLV's always looked like a nice option, and a lifetime warranty is always nice to have.

How was the silver bullet compared to the Ego as in performance.I know some say a true 3.7 is very noticeable better and some say it was not just curious as what you thought.I see a lot of really nice 3.7 devices that are out their i am just wondering how much difference i would get from say a Silver bullet/ pro vape type device compared to the 3.3 volt my ego puts out

I've got a Silver Bullet, Maxi Roughstack, and eGo's. I don't use anything but the SB anymore (well maybe a boxmod when I've got 2 rigs going at once). Fresh off the charger my 18650's run 4.18v. They stay above 3.7 for pretty much all day. Same with the 14500's in the boxmod except they come off the charger @ 4.2v but only stay above 3.7 for about 4 hours. I know, I've checked 'em all with a multimeter.

If you're wondering about VV you might consider one of these Variable Voltage Box Mod. It's a cheap intro to the world of VV. You can get the mod, 4 batt's, and a charger for less than $60. If you like VV save up for a Provari and you've still got a backup rig.

By the way, if you're in northern Kentucky Altsmoke is not too far away in New Philadelphia, OH. If you're considering an SB it might be worth the drive. I drove down there and picked one out, it was well worth it.

Personally, if the ego under load at 3.4 isn't quite doing it for you, do you really want to spend the money on one that only does a true 3.7? VV would be the way to go, hands down. You can go down to a 3.7 and go up to whatever. You will have a whole new world open up.

I won't give a suggestion as to which, mine are a reo grand (3.7 or 6v) and is $135 and a Darwin which adjust by watts and is $230.

Good luck to you!!!

I'd say I did see a different in performance between a mod and the ego. Its fairly minute. Mine tapered off as the battery went down but my ultrafire 18650's tapered as well. Now I'm using AW brand batteries and its definitely the way to go. They don't seem to taper down in power like the egos or ultrafires. I came across a 16340 sized mod that's all mechanical and a whole starter kit costs $29.99. I believe I read they're also throwing in a tube upgrade for 6v for free if you request it. The mod is called the Spark Plug SP2 and it looks pretty cool. The batteries look pretty cheapo but its a good deal none the less. I don't own one nor have I tried it

I've had a number of 3.7v mods and a 5v passthrough, of all of them I was most satisfied with the vape I got with the passthrough so when I decided to upgrade I went whole hog and did a VV Bottom Feeder. Now I am totally spoiled. I can set the voltage for whatever works best for the type of atty I am using (since I have a number of different types this is handy....I have LR, regular Joye, and I think I have a HV hiding in the closest that I haven't tried on it yet) and not having to add juice every 15 minutes is a dream. I have the Monkeyboxx VV and I love it, I can go out for the whole day and not worry about running out of juice or power since the AW IMR CR123 bateries last me about 24 hours (and I vape A LOT). Check out some of the VV Bottom Feeders if you don't mind having something that isn't cig shaped.
