My Velocity clone came today along with some 28 gauge Kanthal wire, some cotton and some pre made 1 ohm coils.

I have a horribly ugly build on it but it vapes! I used one of the premade coils and until I got it on it's kind of a mess. I ended up with it all spread out instead of the coils tight together.

I used the top holes in the posts.

And I can't seem to find a good video of how to do a beginner wick. The cotton I bought are the pads. Does it matter which way I cut it into strips? Like I said, it vapes but it's ugly!

It definitely matters which way you cut the pad. :)
Cut with the "grain". If you cut against the grain the strip will fall apart when you try to pull it throught the coil. Try about a 4mm width for your first strip, a bit smaller than 1/4", and then pull the layers apart into 2 halves. Or, like I do, remove the "skin" or outer layers of the cotton and just use the fluffier inside. Adjust the width of the cut strip as necessary based on your testing.

Thanks. The Magma is out for now if it's bottom airflow.

I'll have to look for a Velocity and a Manta now also. Lack of leak is high priority!

Are the Dark Horse and Plume Veil also bottom airflow?

I don't have one yet...waiting for the slow boat from China for a clone, but I've used enough RDAs to know the Velocity has the best build deck I've seen and is highly adjustable. For being leak resistant, the Aromamizer is by far the most leak resistant RDA I've ever used, even more so than the Veritas.

Don't know about the Dark Horse, but I have the Plume Veil and its one of my most least used RDAs. It produces good flavor and big clouds, but it barely holds any juice and its leak prone if you put 1/2 a drop too many.

For easy, pretty coils every time, I use a Kuro Coiler type tool. Or a Coil Master. It's great for beginners and for using thicker wire. And there are plenty of clones out of these, so you don't have to pay the higher price.
