Looking to upgrade to an eGo-C Twist and I have questions

I'm currently using a V2 because I wanted something small, simple and close to a real cig in size/feel when I started out. I've been using it since early December and I gave up cigarettes completely on 12/18/12. I was really intimdated by all the other styles out there and the V2 looked super simple, and I've been happy with it overall.

But, now that I understand a little more about all of this, I want to try something different with more options. I've been looking at the eGo-C Twist and I found a starter kit that looks like it has what I want. (I already have some juice, but it'll be nice to try something new with the kit.)

Anyway, do you think it will be worth it to go ahead and get the kit with the two batteries, or would I be better off just ordering one battery, a charger and a couple of clearos until I see how I like the Twist, then buy another battery later?

Also, if anyone has a Twist, what clearos are your favorites to use?

Hi - you will like the Twist. Get two batteries ;) That's a good kit for the price, I've recommended it to folks a few times. It comes with a vivi, so you have that covered, but having a few other things to experiment with is a good idea. The only problem I have with Virgin Vapor is that they don't have a big selection of delivery devices. I use vivi novas and "Stardust"-type clearos, but just yesterday I got some bottom coil clearos that are really cool! Virgin doesn't carry them.

I cant speak from actual experience as I have been doing a ton of research lately on making the jump into Vaping. (long time smoker of analogs sadly)

I can however say that the 2 most popular recommendations around here and from reading other review sites seems to be the ViVi Nova, and the Kanger T3. Both are rebuildable. The Nova is more expensive at roughly 10-12 dollars. The T3 is around 5-7 dollars.

Now, I dont want to confuse you, because I was myself confused over all this at first (big thanks to Baditude for straitening my out) Depending on your power source, you want to adjust your Ohms. On this note, the ViVi Nova's have more options available for the rebuildable innards.

One other thing to think about, apparently some juices can crack or cause the plastic of clearos' to leach chemicals into the juice. The ideal solution would be glass, or a pyrex, but as of now, I can not find a glass/pyrex clearo. They seem to be in the realm of carto-tanks, which are a whole other beast.

If my opinion means anything to you (and honestly, it probably shouldn't at this point in my "experience") the ViVi Nova's seem to be the best option available currently for the entry level, yet rebuildable, clearo market. If that is wrong, and there ARE glass/pyrex clearo's available, please someone, come educate both Vapn and I :)

Can I also suggest you check out a few of RipTrippers videos on Youtube? He has done ViVi Nova video reviews and also compared them to other options such are Carto's. If you think you might want a carto, he also has a video on how to refill them so you can get an idea of if that is something you would be willing to deal with.

From everything I've seen, everyone really loves the Twist. Personally when I upgraded from my Volt kit (I insisted on a cigalike for the same reasons as you) I just bought a Vision Spinner and some Kanger T3s. Though as I understand it, the Spinner is quite a bit like the Twist (basically the same threading, uses eGo chargers) except the twist part is knurled, which is very handy. So far I love the spinner, but the T3s have been pretty shaky on consistency. When they do work, they work great. When they don't you can have all kinds of leaky, grody-tasting adventures!

If you plan on the kit and the two batts doesn't break the bank, get them. You always, *always* want to have backups for your gear. The twist style is the natural move forward, I wouldn't worry about regretting the move from the V2.

I strongly recommend having two batteries at the minimum. One to use while the other is charging, and always have that second one as a backup. These batteries do die for no reason. You can never have too many batteries.

I also strongly recommend having more than just one juice delivery device. What will you do if that one stops working? And get at least a couple of varieties, in case you don't care for a specific type. Try a mini vivi nova tank and three clearomizers such as the Vision clearomizers or Kanger T3 clearomizers. Cartomizers are a wise choice, too.

There are no pyrex or polypropylene plastic clearomizers at the present time.

The only thing I would caution you about is the length of the 1000 mah twist batteries. I use a standard Provari with a 6 ml tank so I am used to a big set up but to me the 1000 mah twist is freakishly long and skinny. It is about as big around as a sharpie but with a vivi on top is going to look like a small twirling baton. I had a 650 mah and a 1000 mah and I gave away the 1000 mah because I just couldn't get used to it. The 650 mah is a good size though. The 1000 will be good around home but not for out and about IMHO. If I were you I would get at least one 650 mah battery if not two. Hope this helps.

That response just made me wonder if there were some type of fittings/adapters to mate with a carto-tank end cap so that you could use a IBTanked glass carto-tank with something like a ViVi Nova head/wick system...

And in that instant, I now know why you guys get addicted to Mods. Haven't even clicked the "check out" button on my first purchase, and I am already thinking of bigger and better options that dont exist, but should.

I started with V2 also. I went to eGo-C batteries and then to the twist. I love them. I have moved on to big battery mods but am still happy they are around as my backups and my girlfriend uses em. I use vivi nova's also. I like em because they are easy and work well. I used mini vivi's with the ego bats. Look great too.

PS if you do like a juice prone to killing plastic tanks you can buy metal sleeves for the vivi nova.

The glass expert at IBTanked.com, Mr. OCD, has already tried to fit glass to a vivi nova. He said it can't be done for various reasons. So your idea is good, but already proven to be fruitless.

In your opinion, does the stainless steel impart a "taste" to the Juice? Just one of the reservations with a metal tank
That really depends upon the individual. There are the rare people who insist that they can taste either the metal or plastic in juice delivery devices, and can only enjoy their juices from pyrex tanks.

Hmm, while it wouldn't be elegant or pretty, I don't see why it wouldn't be possible to machine a fitting that matches the bottom O-ring piece of a carto-tank, that extends down far enough to give your threads to mate with a standard Nova endcap.

This is all in my head, and from the very limited experience of working in a machine shop for a year after high school. Perhaps this "hobby" isnt accustomed to the costs involved with Billet machining costs? My other hobby, is sensitive for a lot of people, but the mantra is, if it isnt available to buy, pay a machine shop to make it. Though now that I think about it, a single fitting, one-offed by a machine shop could potentially cost more than most starter kits

I use stainless steel drip tips and I think they do have a faint metallic taste. I didn't realize it until I read a post about it - but I actually like it. The vivi tanks aren't ss, they are aluminum. I've never gotten the metal tubes because I'm not a big vivi fan. I have them, so I use them, but the taste seems muted and I don't find them very consistent.

I use carto tanks almost exclusively. I was using Stardust-type clearos to try out juices that I liked when I dripped, but wasn't ready to commit a whole tanks to - but then I got some of these yesterday! Goodbye Stardust! there is one glass clearo coming out soon from kanger but nothing that I know of at the moment.
the smoktech R tank is sort of like a clearomizer in that you can buy replacement coil set ups for it.
It is polypropylene so it wont crack with acidic juices. That is an option. I have one. Still figuring it out.

A twist with a clearo is a great out and about device, I use either a CE4 type or a mini vivi nova, or a twist with a mega cartomizer when I'm out, looks alot like a cigar. The twist is a bit long though so be prepared especially if you get anything other than a 650mah, the 900/1k mah batteries are pretty long.

The mini vivi nova with a cone adapter is my favorite clearo yet. Nice slim look. The CE4 types are cheap though and if it gets broken its not quite as much of a loss as a vivi.

That said I'm ~23 days into vaping and I bought a vamo to use at home already, and the 1000mah twist isn't much shorter length wise but its alot smaller in diameter. Be careful this becomes a hobby/obsession lol!
