So I have been using vivi novas now for about a month. I have 2 full size and 2 minis. I've noticed with all the vivis that my metal drip tips become loose after a few days, but I don't have the same problem with the delrin tips/plastic drip tips. I have replaced the o-rings on the metal drip tips and get the same issue. Anyone else have this problem?

Thanks

I noticed that my aluminum tips (two styles) both don't go down far enough. Especially when i remove the sleeve from inside the original tip and set it all the way down into the vivi. The sleeve is to large for the other tips and wont go into them like the original tip. this holds the tips from being able to sit all the way in. I've also measured the outside diameter and the original tip is .340" while the others are .335"-.336". The smaller diameter would account for the looseness and your probably only noticing it after a few days because it takes that long for the o-rings to crush down.

Very interesting, do you think the metal tips are made slightly smaller for a reason? Maybe for expansion when they get warm?

I only have two 510 tips, both are aluminum. Wish I could give a more informed size comparison, but I only use Stardusts and a Vivi Nova at the moment so I haven't needed to buy a bunch of 510 tips yet. I did run across a site the other day selling Vivi's with a metal tip instead of plastic. It looked like a ming chrome tip. Check here if you want to try it.

Interesting, I have to admit they look weird lol with the stainless steel ming tips.
The metal ming tip is the one I was having problems with, then I got the slottled aluminum tips and same thing after a few days. I have the ming plastic ones now that I use and no issues. Just the plastic ones tend to go from shiny plastic to dull in about a week.

Alright I have to bump this as I have been finding more and more drip tips that are very loose in the vivi nova heads.
I had ordered a few drip tips from a well known supplier of drip tips. All 4 drip tips are very loose in my vivi nova heads. So loose that I've had them come off in my mouth while vaping. Gardnerd4me really drove the point home when he measured the width of the tips and yes the metal ones are thinner. But i've noticed that a lot of the plastic ones are as well. So I spent over $20 including shipping for these tips (also ordered a few other things) and none of them fit snug. I did order 3 plastic ming tips from avidvaper which fit the vivi novas perfectly and when looking they are slightly bigger. I have also tried other o rings, new o rings etc. But I'm starting to think, no matter how fat the oring, if the main diameter of the tip is thinner then it will still rock in the hole. Oh and i've also tried using plumbers tape to thicken up the drip tip, but its to much of a pain and with to many wraps you end up loosing the well for the o ring.
Does anyone have any suppliers that know the drip tips fit snug in the vivi nova.

Sorry to hear you still haven't found the answer, but thanks for doing a little more research into it. Everyone benefits from our trial and error. I personally just use the one that came with it, function over form wins out every time. I also have not noticed the dulling of the tips that much, but it is losing a little luster. One of these days we'll get what we want.

Holy moley! I was experiencing this very same exact thing yesterday! I kept wondering why my hits from my Nova were meh. Then I realized my SmokTech King Kong metal driptip was loose. I went back to the black drip tip that came with it and the airflow issues were fixed. Can't believe someone was having the same issues as me at the very same time! Well, actually, I can believe it. If it's happened to me, it's happened to someone else, too!

Forgot to mention: with my stainless steel driptip on my Nova, I swear I got little electric shocks when I fired. I can't explain it any other way, but yes, i felt little shocks to the tip of my tongue and my lips. Not ALL the time, but enough for me to notice.

@ gardnerd4me - The original tips fits perfect but I like the feeling of a ming tip.

@ Rocketpunk - I got the same feeling on a few of my metal tips, I think PBursardo or GrimmGreen had mentioned that as well. Not sure which one though

I just bought/recieved these two drip tips and I use Vision Vivi Mini Novas... these two fit tight, in fact I had to force one in. The Calabash was the tighter of the two and they have fairly thick O rings. Also, I have found that if I use a Q-Tip to dry the nova where the drip tip inserts and also make sure the drip tip is dry around the O-ring area, they seal better. Check them out, not too expensive and they shipped fast... just a few days to get them. Hope this helps.

Installed on the mini's Vase on left, Calabash on right. Chrome.

That may be a galvanic effect in which electricity is generated by two dissimilar metals in close proximity with each other in the presence of a conductive fluid. The thin layer of nicotine juice/saliva could act as an electrolyte too in this case.

It could also be caused by the same reaction between a metal drip tip and a metal filling of a different material in your mouth.

Just some 5:00 AM random science class babbling.

A steam boiler will generate static electricity. I think it is because once a charge gets started, it biases the charges of the escaping molecules to be either positive or negative, and then self propagates. It builds until you provide somewhere else for the extra electrons to go. Sort of like a Kelvin's Storm apparatus.
