loose wiggly 510 connection vamo v5 (probably a knockoff)

so i came upon this site after searching about this and found a thread with a similar problem about an evic but couldnt post there being new. i bot a vamo v5 off ebay and for several reasons i have come to believe it is a clone/knockoff whatever. it has served me well with ego thread tanks (kangers evods and t3's...). got a hypertank today to treat myself for my birthday, filled it up and excitedly went to thread it onto my (fake?) vamo. well .... it almost falls in the well barely touching the threads and just spins. really really ...... me off. but the reason i so quickly made and account to reply to that thread is because people were talking about tapping and drilling and getting crazy. but i fixed the issue pretty easy. i wrapped some 32g kanthal around the threads a few times holding the wires tight, and threaded it in. it is now tight as hell and solid. not something that should be done and i will be buying something better soon and trashing this hunk of trash but i just wanted to put that out there. my hypertank hits nicely. why the 510 threads were so off is a mystery and still really makes me want to kill someone.

love the site and look forward to reading through everyone elses mishaps! :)

Welcome to ECF
510 connectors are not very hard to replace you can look up folks who sell the connector order one up and change it out. If your uncomfortable doing it, I may be willing to do it for you. But you should be able to find someone local that can.

thanx man.. i wouldnt have a problem at all changing it myself, i have much experience soldering on motherboards and what not.. just not real clear how the ego/510 connection comes out of the vamo. would i just pull it out? will i disturb the components on the inside?

It's a Vamo. Mine took a crap with the board, I wish it was just something mechanical. After doing tons of research and talking to a few vapers I've met out and about, I ordered a SVD for the casual vape. Only complaints I have uncovered was a iffy firing button, occasional power off and a rattle. These were of more an annoyance opposed to flat defects like the Vamo, but for comparable price I'm ok with that.

IMO this device is invaluable it not only keeps your device threads in top shape but is also great for airflow control on bottom breathers I have one on my SVD and VTR It stays on the unit 24/7 regardless of atomizer I use

who knows if any other 510 thread would work.. it was way off. read a thread somewhere not sure where that another person got a cheap vamo v5 off ebay and decided it was a sigeli or something, cant really recall. but watching the reviews mine is a lil different. the most obvious thing is when you turn it on it says hello then system off, when you turn it on it says hello then system on. pretty sure the vamo v5 never says hello lol.

I think i just read where the Vamo does say hello. I just got a v5 from China. I like it. I've read here that the 510 threads on the Vamo are brass not steel, which makes them weaker and prone to stripping out. I'm going to order a new connector so if/when it strips out I'll be ready. They are at Ecigaretteimpressions.com - Vamo body kits - only $7 or so. They also have posts on how to change it out. I want to get the old style top cap, v2 & v4, cause I don't like the tapered ones on the v5. Also just saw that Vamo is coming out with a new one at 30 watts!! V6? going to be around $65. :2cool:

Don't mess with my juice!
