I'm fairly new to this and confused about what to get to protect the threads on the Vamo V5 that I just ordered.

Unfortunately for me, I use Vision Mini Vivi Nova tanks, which are supposed to not work so well with the V5 (should have researched more). I did some reading and found that there are ways to protect the weak threads on the V5 but I don't understand some of the nomenclature. I'd really appreciate it if somebody could explain, and/or recommend what I should do.

What do these mean and which of the items listed below will work with the V5/Vivi Nova combo?
510-510 extension – Do I have 510 threads now?
510 to EGO adapter

Air control ring
Any other suggestions would be appreciated.

I don't want to switch out my Vivi Nova tanks, just got them, I have 10 new heads and I'm on a budget.

Thanks!
Bill

Greetings Bill, welcome to the forum.

Yes your Vamo has 510 theading -- that's the inside threading on the Vamo's battery connector. The outside threading is the eGo threading.

An air control ring, or airflow controller, goes onto that battery connector, between the battery top cap and you Vivi Nova. It's an adjustable device that allows you to control the air flow level reaching your clearomizer.

Here's a previous ECF thread talking about ways of preserving Vamo threading: http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/vamo/472012-best-way-protect-vamo-threads.html

Cheers!

-- Glenn

Edit: Here's an example of an airflow controller - Tank Airflow Controller

Hey Bill

I use mini vivi nova beauty ring to support all of my 510 tanks on my vamos

eGo Cone Cover for DCTank

I have it high enough so the bottom of the tank rests on it solidly but still makes connection with the positive post in the 510 threads

I also use these for my zmax 3

I'm confused about 510 vs. ego tanks. Are Mini Vivi Nova tanks 510 or ego? As you can see, I'm pretty new to this.

The original Vision Vivi-Nova tanks are 510 threaded, at present there are so many knock-offs and copies it's tough to know. I've had my Vision tanks for well over a year, re-coiling myself, without leaks, 510 threaded, good flavor and vapor....:vapor:

The Vision Mini Vivi Nova tanks are 510 threaded. What many of us do is buy an eGo Beauty ring which partially supports the tank. I own a Vamo V2 ( 1 year) and a V3 (7 months) and I've never had an issue with the threads BUT I'm very careful. Worst possible thing that can happen is to drop the Vamo and it lands in a way that the tank is knocked out of kilter and the threads become slightly stripped. Once they're slightly stripped it becomes very easy to cross thread thereby worsening the threads.
Have happily used the Vision Vivi Novas without issue ever since they were released.

I'm 99% sure that mine aren't knockoffs. I got them from a vendor on this site and the boxes have the Vision name printed on them.

I bought the following from SmokTek. Will they work if I have authentic Vivi Nova tanks?
510 extender / adapter - 6.4mm shoulder length, sealed (no hole)
Tank Airflow Controller

Thanks so much everyone, I'm really glad that I found this site and that there are so many people willing to help.
Bill

Yes either one will work. Most prefer the air controller because it not only replaces the Vamo 510 threads but also gives extra support to the tank itself.
My beauty ring (below in vid) does not replace the 510 threads but offers the extra support...NOT suggesting you buy this but just showing how the air controller above would give that extra support to the tank itself AND replace the Vamo 510 threads.

510 type tank
$3.06 Mini Vivi Nova Detachable Electronic Cigarette Atomizer (2.5mL) - translucent / 2.4

510 threaded

$2.69 T32 Electronic Cigarette Round Mouth Clearomizer (1.6ml) - translucent / 2.2

eGo threaded

Notice the 510 has a thin nub, tiny threads on outside, ego threaded is much larger, and threaded inside, the eGo threaded device has less of a chance of stripping as more of the metal is contacting the threading

^Thank you! I have 510 threads. And wow are those prices good.

Have ordered lottsa stuff from FastTech and am 100% satisfied BUT I knew exactly what I was ordering. Just understand they sell both genuine and clones/ knockoffs. Some clones are good while others are not. Know exactly what you are buying when purchasing from FT. Shipping times are now also an issue. I'd suggest if purchasing from FT ask around about what you intend to buy.

I'm pretty impatient so I'd probably end up ordering in the U. S. to get my stuff quicker. They have tons of items on their site, though.

The Vamo threads are butter soft brass. Like the squirrel guy said...don't drop it with anything attached!

I usually don't leave the house with my APV and if I do, I take my Vision Spinner.
