• Have you lost weight while vaping? I often vape in place of a meal and sometimes vape WHILE eating. Doesn't seem compatible but it's nothing like smoking to me and don't knock it until you try this! Regardless, I have lost 20 pounds in the last few months while vaping. Please select from the choices in this poll and elaborate in your post with time vaping and pounds lost or gained.

I am very interested to see how this turns out...I wondered the same thing...quit smoking last May, been using low nic pre filled cartos, and I gained around 5 pounds in the last year. My Dr said that's typical (though it feels like more). The liquids I just got to go with my new Ego have a much higher nic content than my old cartos, so I am interested to see if that makes a difference and my metabolism goes back up at all. I thought maybe it was more the other stuff in cigs keeping my weight down than just strictly nicotine.

I've lost quite a bit of weight over the past 1.5 years. The biggest plus from vaping, for me, is regaining lung function so I can walk/jog/run again. Whatever "distraction" to you use to reduce your caloric intake is a plus. 1 lb = 3500 calories.....simple math; take in fewer and burn more to lose weight.

If you are losing a lot of weight quickly, best to pay close attention to what you are losing...fat or muscle.

There was a poll about this subject several months ago:

http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/polls/114722-vaping-weight-loss-gain-same.html

I didn't vote at the time as it was requested that you only vote if you've been vaping for a few months. I did comment on the poll at the time:

I've only been vaping for a couple of weeks, so I didn't vote, but I wanted to comment because this has been a BIG issue for me.

I lost about 60 pounds five years ago (by eating more nutritiously and adding exercise into my daily routine) after being obese through much of my childhood and adult life.

Smoking had been the one thing that I couldn't let go of. I started about 13 years ago. I had tried quitting several times in the past few years (I've never been a heavy smoker, usually averaged 1/3 to 1/2 a pack a day) but every time I tried to quit I would start gaining weight back. I have something of a compulsive eating problem which I have learned to keep in check, but when I quit smoking I couldn't seem to keep the self control and my weight would start climbing.

Anyway, about eight months ago I tried quitting again, and started gaining weight as usual. I told myself this time that I wouldn't go back to smoking no matter what, but after six months I had gained about 15 pounds and I started freaking out, and started smoking again. Doh!

But then a couple of friends of mine started vaping, and introduced me to the wonders of it all! I have been smoke-free for a couple of weeks now, and have been back on track with my nutrition plan and have lost a few of the pounds I gained. Yay!

I am optimistic that this may be the solution to a life long problem!

Now it's been over six months for me so I thought I'd come back to it. I have lost about about eight pounds at this point--which is about half of the 15 that I gained after I tried quitting cold turkey. Yay!

*lol* wrong time for me to say one way or another.... I gained and stayed around 140 after quitting the first time. Plus the holidays everyone gains the "Freshman 15". Gaining weight has always been a problem for me, loosing it never so much (not eating fast food or "insta-meals".... the stuff tastes like the garbage it is).

I do know my evening coffee is replaced with a coffee vape. Not sure if that would help or hinder people with weight issues. Instead of snacking vape a candy flavor.

I was thinking the same thing. I have been off and on till 6 weeks ago. Im done now for good but I have not weighed myself for at least the same 6 weeks. My scale was off so I tossed it. It said I was 180 when I know I was over 200. I will report at a later time. I feel less bulk. Only some times I have days that I eat way too much. I lost 15 pounds while working as a logger for about 6 weeks. So its hard to say if I lost. Started at 230 then to 215. I would be happy at 190 only cause I have a natural build. I have had lots of people tell me that my arms are like legs by people I thought the same way about. I never notice myself. Guess it makes me feel better about being around 200

Its been 3 months since I had a smoke. I have lost 13 pounds. This is not from smoking or not smoking though. I just also decided to eat better. One change deserves another. I miss my Cherry Coke though. All the rest I am doing good without. If I find my self hungry when I should not be, I go for some fruit or yogurt with granola mixed in. That helps a lot.
