loss of flavor and throat hit

I have been vaping for about 2 months now. I started off with afew of the "Nic Stick" 510 kits from my local convienience store and about 1.5 weeks ago I got an ego from madvapes.com. I also got some regular (non low resistance) cartomizers from there as well. So far I have dripped with a regular attyand a modified atty, used the attys and carts and now the cartos. So far my favorite as far as taste, TH , vapor, and convienience has been the cartos. However I have through 3 cartos within this time. I notice after a few days I start to loose taste and get alot less TH howevr I get a bunch of vapor still. I measured the voltage off of the battery with a multimeter and am getting 3.4 V off of it. The only thing I can think off is maybe the carto is getting gooked uop and am not getting fresh juice to the internal atty? Is only 3 or 4 days an average life of these without cleaning? Am I not taking care of it right? I never let the carto run dry. I'm constantly adding a few drops here and there, by doing this is it causing it to gum?

Even with your first vape in the morning? I tend to notice things waning throughout the day but that's just because your taste buds become somewhat numbed out after a while. But if you have the problem after a full nights sleep then the only thing I can suggest is you either try different juice or switch to attys.

Thanks AttyPops for the bump. kgeiger002, all i can say, is if I switch to a new carto it's fine for me. It's got to be a problem within the carto from what I see. I'm just trying to find a way to stop the problem so cartos last me more than a few days worth of refills.

I think you could be getting residue from adding more liquid then burning it off repeatedly so to speak, maybe you could try to wash the cart with hot water if thats feasible with your setup.

Howard, thats what I was thinking as well. I have seen numerous posts on here about cleaning cartos so I think I;'m just gonna try a few different ways.

If you have rubber-tipped cartos, pop the tip off, remove any inner o-ring, and let them soak in some really hot water. Do this a couple times (replace the hot water), then a final rinse under a running tap. Blow out as much of the water as you can. If the carto looks decent, no longer has juice smell it's ready to dry.

Some people dry in rice, others use a fan, for me I put them in an oven at about 250 for 45 minutes on a paper towel. Not much higher temp or you'll wreck the outer cover on the carto. Be careful when you take them out -- let them cool before touching them.

Mark, I like that oven idea. I wasn't to fond of letting them sit in front of a fan for 3 days. The cartos that I have do have a rubber peice in the end. This makes me very happy to here since last night I filled my last frwesh carto with a flavor I can't stand am now using a atty/cart which has me almost to the point of bumming an analog off of a co-worker.
When you say "really hot water" do you mean boiling, or no. I heard boiling will ruin the filler material?

For increased flavor and great throat hit, consistently, look into a 5 volt PV with 801/BE112 atomizers. Plus 8 hour battery life. But with your current set up, it probably is your atty that is getting gunked up. Try a new one and see if the problem disappears.

Thanks. I read an article just yesterday about watts. basically using a 2ohm carto with a 3.7 battery puts you in the range where most are happy. What is it about the 801 cartos that you like? Whats the difference between them and a 510 other than thread difference? I had a 5 volt passthrough at one point but the plastic sleeve over the 2 wires broke then shortly the wires broke. I believe it was rather cheap quanity. I want to by another one but not from the same place that I ghot that one.

I use the 801 cartomizers from MadVapes and find them much more enjoyable than the 510 cartos. The advantages to me are: they don't burn as hot as the 510 which is important on a 5 volt PV as the 510's can seem too hot to me; they hold 2-3 times as much e-liquid (40+ drops) so they last much longer between refills and IMO, I can taste the flavor better. That being said, I never liked an 801 on a 3.7 volt PV. I think they need the extra power because the have a higher resistence.
