I recently started vaping again after a few years back on real cigs. At the time I stopped vaping, the Kayfun was pretty new, the DNA 40 (I think) was coming out, to get good subohm performance you involved a mech mod, etc. Now I can get a regulated device that fires a sub-ohm tank for $50! I'm almost embarrassed to say that my cheap Sub-Ohm tank outperforms the stuff I was building . . .but anyway . .the point.

I went to my local vape shop to pick up some new juice. The vape shop hasn't changed at all! First of all, it's not configured like a regular store. I don't know what it's like - I'd say it's like an Apple Store but even the Apple Store has a regular cashier in case, you know, you just need to buy something and get on with your day.

The vape shop employees still have that "casually disinterested" affectation. Sucking on their mods every 2 seconds while talking to you. I get the feeling they're already bored of juices I've never even heard of, lol.

I'm sure there are good and bad shops and the experience will vary but the entire model is wrong! Why do I need to wait around to talk to somebody just to buy something I already know I need/want? What's wrong with, say, the way every other kind of store in the world works? When I used to go into Tobacco stores, for example, I could browse the shelves, pick up items to buy and buy them. I only needed to talk to the dude at the counter if I had questions or needed something particularly expensive.

So - dude at the counter . .I don't have any questions, I don't want to talk to you, I don't want to sit at the "juice bar" . .I just want to buy some juice or some coil heads or whatever and be on my way. I don't think vaping is "cool" so you seem completely ridiculous to me. Just my opinion - but I wish vape shops would evolve along with the rest of vaping.

Most of the vape shops, in my neck of the woods anyway, are more like bars or cigar lounges. Big stuffed chairs, sofas, tvs, even video game consoles, sometimes.

Most shops around here could not support extra employees, usually if very busy one of other customers will help out. Vape shops also are prime targets for theft. Then there's the vaper who shops 3 towns over so no one from church will see them. There are good shops out there, just have to find them. Sorry, my point is it's not like running a convenience store.

To me it seems vape shops are more like a "specialty store" and those type of stores don't seem to fall under the normal retail types.

They definitely remind of *one* kind of specialty store . .the kind that are only legal in a few states. Other than that I can't think of any specialty store that runs this way.

All good responses and I mostly agree. I think it *should* be like running a convenience store . .there's no reason in the world why a vape shop should be more prone to robbery than any other kind of shop. The liquor store around the corner from me has been robbed twice in the last 2 years that I know of . .but none of the vape shops have (that I know of).

Anyway - the shopping experience I desire is one of a convenience store. Convenient stores are convenient. I don't care about sofas or video game consoles . .both of which my local vape shop has, btw. Maybe there should be a split and all convenience stores that sell tobacco should start carrying vape supplies and all Hookah bars should become vape bars. There. I solved it.

Local vape shops get robbed fairly regular around here. Next town over vape shop has been robbed 3x, it's located across the street from PD. Shop here in robbed few weeks ago. Almost always young people. Few months back another shop was robbed by 12 and 14 year old kids. Vape shops in small towns can't afford cameras and insurance. Many close within a few months of opening.

I kinda like the friendly approach my vape shop has everything's locked behind the counter though but that's the law around here (vaping is considered smoking) I go to vape shops to buy stuff learn talk everything, pretty much like a chill spot because most vapers i've seen including here are extremely social people. Though my vape shop has regulars which come in buy their coils, juice or whatever talk a bit then leave. Experiences in vape shops are completely different in every single one of em, i've did 3 different places since i stopped smoking and guess it's like they always say : 3rd time's the charm. But imho if you're mean or don't seem to care don't expect them to really like you lol just because you know what you want and don't wanna spend your day there dosen't mean you can't take 5 mins talk to them (specially since you're kinda new to the generation we have now). I agree that making vape shops like bars is a bit crazy to me but then again it's subjective. I like sharing and talking about it while being there since it's the best place to do so but i understand not everyone's like that.

IMO the golden age of the B&M has come & gone.
Convenience stores & pod systems is likely the future.
God i hope now i'd rather stop vaping entirely rather than being stuck with freaking pods tbh

Well just buy convenience stores e cigs then ? you'll get your vape and convinience store experience......
It's not run like it and shouldn't most people go there knowing nothing about it so making them comfy is the way to go (though i can't lie console in a vape shop ?wtf.......) Here it's pretty simple glass cases with mods, tanks and all with shelves behind with all the juices you can think of simple, easy and no messing around + clerk that's always behind the counter but still isin't run like a convinience store which is the best way to attract customers.

I like to go to local shops just to talk vape. Trick is to not go when noobs who only want blow cool clouds are there. Nice friendly kids, I just don't have anything in common with them. They're not interested in wire, building, batteries, or anything. Just watts and clouds.
