It is a known fact that getting extra flavor doesn't always just make the flavor more pronounced. ALL of KBV's joose recipe's are very complex. IIRC, boB said that the simplest joose they have has 4 different flavorings. With that kind of complexity, flavors can outright change when you double them.
Think about it this way...You make a cup of black coffee, and put in 2 teaspoons of sugar in it. Gives you a cup of coffee, not quite sweet, but it doesn't taste bitter. Then make a cup of coffee in the same size cup with the same amount of water, with twice as much coffee grounds, and 4 teaspoons of sugar. It is gonna be STRONG coffee flavor, and you probably won't even be able to tell there is sugar in it.
