Loving my new e-cigs

Hello,
I'm new to the site; just joined yesterday and I have no clue what most of you are talking about. I was recently introduced to e-cigs and am ordering batteries and self contained cartridges from South Beach Smoke. I am happy with these, as I used to smoke Newport cigarettes and my replacements taste basically the same for I'd say the first 120 or so puffs. I especially love the first puffs of a charged battery and brand new cartridge.

Does anyone else here just vape e-cigs are all you all on tanks? What exactly is a tank anyway? What's up with the talk about coils and cotton balls? Is it not considered vaping if you just like menthol e-cigs? I read something about "vape tongue" on here yesterday, is that going to happen to me?

Sorry about all the questions, but you all are way more advanced with this stuff than I am.

Thanks!

Hi!

I use a tank, yes, although I have some cig-a-likes which I occasionally use.

The trouble with these systems is the cost and the nicotine delivery. Products like this claim to do certain things but actually often don't.

As I don't know your system it's hard to say exactly. Also, home delivery is a scary "deal" which I would avoid like the plague.

I smoked 15 a day and couldn't quit using a product like this, so I am biased against them. ONE refill could be 200 puffs, but it won't be 20 cigarettes in nicotine... that has been proven both by users and science.

There's a handful that use cig - a - likes here. Most of us use tanks or drip ejuice. Vaping, is a whole new world of flavor and/or nicotine delivery. We have an exponentially higher control over our cost and nic levels over other products. The path to being smoke free is through knowledge and understanding. While other smoking cessation devices have had some level of success, vaping has proven thus far to be a far more cost effective, healthier alternative to other methods/devices.

I started on E-Lites which have disposable cartomisers (not very good and I needed a ciggy for back up).

Yes, well E-Lites are a straight rip-off. Everybody knows it. E-Lites know they are charging double per cartomizer but they just want to make millions and don't give a s***.

I exposed them on the internet until I started getting in trouble.

One day, they'll either get bought out (and make more millions) or people will wise up. I hear sales are already slowing down.

(I wish....)

There's a company that sells blanks for them in packs of 5 so you can juice them up. Out of the 5 I bought only 2 worked lol

There is a lot to learn if you want. If you're happy with what you have going on then I wouldn't worry about it too much. Learning about how many options we have vaping is an easy way to spend money. There are so many fun toys which is a great deal of what you're hearing about here. Prefilled cartridges (what I'm pretty confident you're talking about using) are some what convenient but often times lack flavor or flavor options. Those using tanks can go to a shop or order online tons and tons of different flavors with different strengths of nic. I know those pre filled ones can be reloaded but that info is beyond me. BTW all the talk about cotton, silica, ss mesh, ekowool and such are people who rebuild the heating element of their ecig, customizing it to their needs/desires. It also can make for a fun hobby. Also ask away on your questions.

I've not had a Newport since Monday...so three days and no withdrawal for me. I don't know what you mean by "my system" but I started with the totally disposable e-cigs and then bought a kit that came with batteries, chargers, and cartridges. Now I've just bought a 6 month supply of cartridges too that came with 5 more batteries. I don't want to have to handle the loose liquid and don't really want it in the house with the children. I don't understand why you think home delivery is scary...the mailman drops a box off at the front door.

Welcome in....Nothing wrong with the route you are taking for starting out, the most important thing is to get off tobacco! That being said the style of E cig you are using is basic and will not deliver as pointed out in the previous posts, such as battery life and nicotine delivery, not to mention flavor.

If you are adventurous, for the sake of learning about coils and tanks, take a used cartridge and pull off the top cap then remove the fiberfill in the cartridge. You will see inside the coil wrapped around a wick, this is basically the same as a coil that is wrapped around cotton. When you pull the fiber out you will notice it is damp and oily, that is the liquid used. So as for a tank or clearomizer the liquid is visible (usually) and gets absorbed by the wick, whether it is cotton or silica. Just imagine the cartridge without the fiber, full of liquid, this would be like a tank or clearomizer. Just in the case of the cartridge it is not sealed like a tank therefor it would leak all over the place or sucking it into your mouth..not a good thing, but you can get the idea of a tank or similar style system by doing this...Hope it helps you understand better!! A tank also allows the user to use different juice flavors and still use one tank (cartridge) where as the cartridge is usually not refillable (although it can be for most) and would not be good to fill again with another flavor..generally speaking.

The batteries you are using are self contained and charged via a USB port or wall plugin charger, the life is very short, IIRC something like 300 mah....mah is the size of charge the battery has so a 2400 mah battery has more juice to supply and will last longer before a charge is needed.( My description here is meant to be basic for the OP's understanding

Vaping is vaping whether it is coffee, menthol, candy or fruit and tobacco flavors.

Vape tongue is a reaction from the liquids used, it may or may not affect you, in my case I have never experience it, this is something you must experience and if so try other juices to see if it remedies it.

Well hope this long winded diatribe helped answer your questions, and with that HAPPY:vapor:

Thanks Cool-breeze. Apparently there are a bunch of vape shops opening here in Philly around South Street so I guess I should visit one some day and look at all the fun stuff that's out there now. As for me, I'm not that sophisticated when it comes to flavoring. I just enjoy menthol. Maybe I'll look into some peppermint flavors when I venture out to the vape shop.

In the longer run, if you buy something like an Evod Twist, JoyTech Spinner, or iTaste vv3--all of which are around $20 t $30, a couple of clearomizers (aka tanks) for say another $6 or $8, or so, and some juice from a supplier (anywhere from $5 on up), you get a better vape for much less $$ than you will with your setup. You don't have to head for the more expensive stuff ever if you don't want to, but probably will because you will read about those expensive, shiny things here and want them for yourself. Whatever you need to do to stay off the cigs, do it. That is really the most important thing (well, that and all the luscious juices to try!).

Home delivery is scary in the sense you are automatically billed for the monthly supplies and in some instances, hard to cancel the orders. I had a friend make this error with a Walmart special, he thought he was just getting free disposables and come to find out he got a 60 days supply and billed for it without his knowledge, it took some maneuvering to get the money back and the order cancelled.

You can get the same type of E cig from vendors such as Vapage dot com and purchase in different amounts/flavors. Same delivery at home but you control when you order or need to re order. This way if you decide to change the way you vape you are not locked in to a contract type deal, you simply stop ordering and purchase the style of e cig you are going to.
