Low Blood Pressusre During Surgery

I am not saying there is a correlation, but with the e cig forum being such a large community the sample size is large.

A week and a half ago, I required minor surgery under anesthesia. During the procedure my blood pressure dropped from 130/80 to 80/35. After completion of the surgery my anesthesiologist stopped by very concerned, asking a lot of questions. All medications were familiar to him (blood pressure, cholesterol, and a medication for glaucoma). Had anything else changed? I answered honestly at the time, no. Well, something had changed my switching from analog cigarettes to vaping. I am now wondering if some component to e-juice causes low blood pressure when used in conjunction with anesthesia. I am asking the community, has anyone else had a similar experience?

Anesthesia will cause low blood pressure at times. That's why the anesthesiologist was concerned, it's his responsibility to keep your vitals normal during surgery. My blood pressure dropped really low once when I had surgery, it happens.

My bp runs high and after I started vaping it didn't drop. If anything, your bp may have gone down to normal or a little below because you stopped smoking, not because you started vaping.

I've been working in the operating room as either a physician's assistant or surgical assistant for 35 years. A BP of 80/35 is not that low. I'm surprised that your anesthesiologist was concerned with that BP if those were the real numbers. BP can go up or down during a procedure from numerous things, not the least with what the surgeon is doing. I wouldn't be concerned with this.

^yeah, being out on the table with BP like that isn't that low at all. If anything nicotine would increase your blood pressure, during vascular constriction effects and after. You're more prone to blood pressure changes with cigarettes. MAOI's and other chemicals in cigarettes affect you and the nicotine more intensely.
