Just wondering if anybody new why I might have extremly low and harsh vapor from my build. It's a 2 coil set up on a Cats rda. I have 28g, wrapped 5 times on 3mm running at .6 ohms. The vapor is horrible. Could it be air flow? Or more likely the wicking?

I also had one of the legs turn almost black and snap off the post. This was after I removed the wick and fired the rda.

I would say it was your wicking... But, with the post snapping off it leads me to believe you had hot spots, a hot leg, or a short somewhere. Did it spark, make a clicking sound, then snap? Always make sure when you build that your post screws are tightened fully, that all of your clipped leads are clear of any other metal, and to fire your device and pinch the coils until they glow from the middle to the outside of your coil.

Edit: Do not pinch while firing lol, fire until the coils glow fully then release the switch and pinch the coils. Phew, that was close.

Ha ha ;) Yes for sake of self preservation no pinching while under fire.

It didn't spark or click. I had just pulled my wick out to try another wicking set up and I fired it up and looked down and only one coil was lit. The other one had an almost black look and a snapped leg. Is the leg supposes get red as well or just the coil?

I did have tight screws but I will keep an eye out for touching metal. Learning curves ;) Hopefully I'm rewarded soon by a working model.

Thanks Cullin

Progress not perfection. Part of the fun of rebuilding is tinkering and finding errors! Another thing that could have happened is that the coil just became brittle from use and decided to snap when rewicking.

When I first started rebuilding, I got this great thought one day and was like 'Why fire then pinch when you could do both at the same time?! It would be just like torching the coils right before installing, right?' Nooooo... Needless to say, sparks flew and one leg on each coil snapped and I had to start over. I was lucky though because it could have been worse!

Always make sure you don't wick too tight, it will starve the coils of juice and produce a burning flavor.

The leg's of the coil should not glow after you have squeezed the coils and gotten an even glow from the center out. Before you pinch, the coils are not uniform enough and distribute power to places where it doesn't need to be!
