Lowering your Nicotine level

I just read on a forum that people were wondering how to cut back their nic level and since I can only post here so far, I make my own E-juice and started at 22 mg's and cut back 2 mg's every month until I got to 4 mg's and that's where I stayed for a long time. (When I realized I was going to continue vaping and not just use it to quit, I went back to 18 mg's for the relaxation nic gives). Hope this helps if your trying to quit all nic. It worked great for me as far as not having any withdrawal symptoms. I saw in another forum that people were recommending cutting back by half and when I first tried that a couple years ago I was having nicotine withdrawal constantly and was "chain" vaping.

Unless your lung hitting on subtanks, then 6mg nic strength is pretty high with that style of vaping. I vape 12 to 18mg in what I class as normal vaping mouth to lung but no way I could vape that in these subtanks, sub ohm with full air flow..

I started vaping high nic, around 24mg on tanks like vivnovas, but after a bit my body would let me know it was too much
made me feel lite headed, i keep lowering my intake until it felt satisfying without the sickening, i'm down to 6mg and my drippers
i use 3mg and thats plenty, not into throat hit.........its all about the flavor chasing now.......

I didn't really have a plan for cutting back, but I am pretty sure I couldn't have done a drop from 24 mg/ml to 12 mg/ml. I have cut back in steps - 24 to 18 to 16 to 12 - whenever I felt like trying it to see if I could handle it.

Mind you, this is over the last 20 months. I think I may try another step down in a few months, but I'm pretty happy around 12 for now.

Dripping, it's usually 0 to 6, depending on setup.

I'm currently vaping a blend of aprox. 50/50 12 and 18 in my subtank mini. My own coil at about 0.8 ohm. My Goblin has a 0.6 build and that's straight 18mg. I didn't know I was doing anything unusual. I'll tell you what's really fun... My first dripper was an omega clone that I got free for an order over $50. I didn't have any other juices so I just dripped 18mg. Flavor was fantastic, but it's the burning sensation and nausea that'll get your attention!

I'm ashamed to say it but i'm sub ohm'ing with 24mg in the way you're describing (lung hitting !). I was using 36mg but it was literally taking my breath away, i'd stop breathing for a moment or two !, it's weird. 24mg seems about right for me now.

I started with simple clearos at 18mg and pretty much chain vaped the first month. Never got nauseous, but man could I get jittery. Also had problems sleeping then. Dropped down to 12 after about 6 weeks and I've been there ever since in my mouth-to-lung tanks (Kayfuns). Recently got into Subtanks and I do either 3 or 6 there. I still tend to chain vape but now it's because I can, not because I need to. I might be dropping my nic level down in the future but only because the nicotine affects the taste of a good juice, not because I want to lower it.

Well in the beginning i never intended to give up smoking. Something happened and i was forced to stop. So really my vaping habit is taking the place of smoking and i never planned to lower the nicotine.

When i started vaping with cigalikes i was using 45mg. Then when i moved to ego's i lowered the nicotine level to 36mg. Obviously, because i'd get more vapour from the ego setup lowering the nicotine means i really was just using as much as before, so nothing had changed !.

When i moved to low powered mods i stuck with the 36mg. The only reason for me to start using mods was they work out cheaper in the long term. I don't get any more vapour from them compared to the ego setup. I'm still using low powered mods with Protanks at 36mg.

Just to reiterate, i never wanted to stop smoking !.

At present, as i've said in my previous post, i'm using a Subtank mini with the RBA deck and a 0.7ohm coil and vaping with 24mg on a Vamo V7. This setup creates more vapour so i had to lower the level i was, am, using.

I also use, intermittently, my Provari v2.5 and a Protank with 36mg nicotine. That's the way it's going to stay until i start using more than one coil. The more vapour i get the less nicotine i'll need to use per mil.

It does seem that quite a lot of people here on ECF are looking to lower their nicotine over time and then finally quit. So i think for that reason i may well stand out from a crowd.
